Proac Original Response 2 VS Response 3
Sailormike,IMO the 3.8 is better in every regard than the 3.5. Not only is the bass better but the 3.8 has a more refined midrange and upper end. I owned the 3.5 for 3 years before upgrading to the 3.8 which I owned for 5 years. Definitely worth t...
Proac Original Response 2 VS Response 3
I've owned the ProAc 2, 3.5, 3.8, and now the D80. You will find that Audio Research tubed amps sound fabulous with ProAcs and an excellent match. The ProAc 2 is a wonderful speaker but care must be made when matching it to one's system. I found t...
Krell KAV-400xi or MF Tri-Vista with B&W or ProAC
Alum:I recently replace my ProAc 3.8s with the new ProAc D80. The D80 is absolutely fabulous and dramatically better than the 3.8. I have not yet heard the D38 but understand that it is an improvement over its predecessor, the 3.8

Proac 2.5 or 3.8?
I've owned ProAc 2s, 3.5s, and 3.8s. I have used all these ProAc models in my 28X15X8 room with the 3.8 as being the best sounding. I would go with the 3.8. The 3.8s should sound very good in you room.
Proac 3.8 or Sonus Faber Cremona
I recently sold my ProAc 3.8s as I am planning on upgrading to the new ProAc D80. I listened to to the Sonus Farber Cremona today at a local store and was simply blown away with their smooth life like sound. I can't say that they are better than m...
Will ARC VT-100 Mk. II drive ProAc 3.8's.
I currently own ProAc 3.8s and run them with a single VT-100 MKII. You will find that the VT-100 has more than enough power. The sound is fabulous with excellent bass, life-like midrange, and extended highs. Believe me this is a great sonic match.
Theta reliability
I owned a Theta Data Basic for about 8 years. It never gave me any problems despite heavy use. It was a great transport in my opinion. The only problem however is that the transport mechanism is no longer made so it cannot be replaced.
digital glare - problems/solutions
Isolate your digital gear with a PS Audio P300. Works wonders on the sound of your digital gear and should solve your glare. Try one with the 30 day money-back trial.

Theta Gen VIII - primed to jump 4 years ahead
Hi Bjack70jr,Where did you get your info on the 8-10k projected price--Theta? I asked them about the projected cost of upgrading a ProGenVa and they told me that they did not yet know at this early date.
Theta DS Pro Gen VI - update
Cousindupree,Who did you talk to at Theta? I called Ed Dietermyer of Theta in early September and he told me that the ProGen VI would be out in January or early next year and that the ProGenVa would indeed be upgradable.
Nordost vs NBS
Thanks to all of you for your most valuable responses. I am now auditioning two Nordost quattro fils between my digital front ends including a SCD-1 for SACD replay. The Nordost ICs work very well at this point, but I when placed a quattro Fil bet...
Sony SCD-1 as transport?
Thanks for the info Mgottlieb & Chris. The reason that I am concerned about the sonics of the SCD-1 used a transport is due to the fact that a reviewer stated that "the SCD-1 has a low quality digital output conversion method." However I don't...
