Bryans I found asking for input on a specific tube and piece of gear helps but buying and trying is probally the true test;you just need to set your $$$ level for cost and keep it within sight.As Ducks2007 points out it is fun and a learning exper...

I am a owner of a pair of these amps and have used them to drive usher rw729's and soundlab m2's;all I can say is they do everything extremely well and do not disappoint at any level.I was just wondering where you found the bps units for them?

I think Duke's speakers at Audiokenesis would fall into this group;worth checking out and Duke is one of the good guys in audio as well.

do you want to try tubes? I would look hard at the Merlin's that are selling at 1850;one is a full range and the other is a monitor.

I think audiovalve challanger 180's would be worth a look;el34,6550 or kt88 choices and power out ranges from 150 to 180 watts;I am using these on my soundlab m2's with very nice results.

I would buy a pair of soundlabs and to drive them atmasphere ma1's or if you have the funds the ma2;this combination would be world class sound that probally cound not be out done. 
What makes a speaker too big for a given room?
My guess would be woofers that create to much bass energy(air movement) and then sounds bloated.
