Steely Dan Catalog on UHQR Vinyl
At one time in my earlier life I owned practically every half-speed and other audiophile record.  As my stereo improved I liked them less and less in favor of the best sounding original pressings.  I have sold most of those compressed audiophile r...
Choosing Headphones up to 1700 USD
Another great headphone line is Kennerton.  I have a pair of Gjallarhorn GH50 and a Rognir Planar Magnetic.  The Gjallarhorns use just that, horn-loaded graphene-laminated mylar dynamic driver and has great bass and dynamics.  The Rognirs have muc...
Supra Cat 8 Ethernet cable
I compared a regular Cat 5E ethernet cable, a Blue Jeans Cat 6A, and Certicables Cat 8 cables, all 3 meters.  The Cat 5E was the stock cheap cable provided by the cable company, the BJ 6A cost something like $10 and the C 8 was about $50 on either...
Qobuz or Apple Music?
Even standard 16/44.1 standard rez Qobuz files sound better than hi-rez Amazon Music files.
Have you had buyers/sellers back out of a deal?
Funny that the OP posted this as I have had at least a half dozen buyers back out on US Audiomart.  In hundreds of transactions I have never had this happen on AG or Ebay but it seems to be the norm on USAM.  I get it, USAM is the outlier in that ...
Just my observation - seems like there is less listed on AG
I agree with lwin above that AG is exceptionally anal about controlling the dialog between buyers and sellers.  And I feel their selling fees are excessive and laden with low-ballers.  But I think they still are the standard for audio product sale...
How do you make a final decision on a DAC
I agree with the above poster that there are really no shortcuts when it comes to digital audio, i.e. DACs.  I went from the DAC in a $168 DAC/Amp to a $99 standalone DAC to a $360 model to a $3500 unit to my current $11,000 DAC and there was an i...
DHL and the definiton of insanity
I recently sold a USB cable to a buyer in Australia who contracted the pickup and transport with DHL from the US to Australia.  For the past week they have promised the buyer that they will pick up the package and deliver it only never to show up ...
Led Zeppelin 11
I no longer collect records as I now listen to streamed digital files through my headphones.  There, I said it.  It is most cathartic to finally come out as I never, ever thought I would trade LPs for digital, but here we are. I collected records...
Led Zeppelin 11
I see that Better Records hot stampers have suffered from the same price escalation as with equipment.
Led Zeppelin 11
I bought a number of hot stampers from Tom for a number of years until I discovered a record seller in the Bay Area and another in SoCal where I could buy multiple copies and perform my own shootouts.  In some cases I was able to find pressings be...
The sound quality from DACs - is it all the same?
@lanx0003  The $360 DAC was the SMSL SU-8 v.2 Anniversary Edition.
I'm trusting FedEx/ UPS less by the day
Another horror story, this time courtesy of UPS.  I had a pair of monitor speakers that used a pair of nicely built stands made of plaster and lead bars.  I shipped both sets double-boxed and got a call from the buyer who asked me to report the st...
The sound quality from DACs - is it all the same?
The $3500 DAC is the Auralic Vega, the $11,000 DAC the Bricasti M1SE with network streamer.  It seemed that the sound improvement between the lesser DAC steps were maybe 40% improvement, the Vega to M1SE was about 20-30%.  I wonder how much more i...
The sound quality from DACs - is it all the same?
I went from the DAC in my laptop to a $168 DAC/AMP to a $99 standalone DAC to a $360 DAC to a $3500 DAC to my current $11,000 DAC.  And yes, there was a significant and easy-to-hear improvement with each step upward in cost, so all is right with t...
