Transport to Audio Research Dac8 I have an ARC DAC8 - very nice DAC by the way. I use an Oppo83se and a Bryston BDP2. Both are nice options. I would also consider a Mac mini.
Jeff Rowland Aeris or Bricasti M1? I have listened to both. They both produce excellent sound. I do tend to prefer the Bricasti M1. The sound it produced with the Harbeths at RMAF was fantastic. Also, as Bill_K mentions above, the Rowland has some limitations.
Bricasti M1 USB I'm also considering the Bricasti. I listened to it in the Harbeth room at RMAF and it sounded wonderful. On my list of candidates are the Meitner MA-1, MSB Platinum Sig and the Bricasti. Mike
ARC DS225/DS450 or stick with their tube amps? Techguy,I have ARC's Ref5SE paired with a DS450. This is a very nice combo. Yes, the Ref5SE can get a bit warm; however, the DS450 runs very cool.I used to have the LS27 (not sure which LS you have or looking at) and it did not get too hot.Hope th...
ARC vsi75 versus ARC reference 75 Good choice! Congrats on the purchase.Mike
ARC DS220/450 Distortion Levels Not an issue with the DS450. I use one to drive my Revel Salon 2s, which are fairly inefficient and power hungry, without a hitch.Mike
Amp for Revel Ultima Salon 2 I would add to that list PASS XA200.5 or X600.5, Bryston 28SST2, ARC DS450M.The choice depends on the rest of the system, budget, size of the room,...Mike
Audio Research Reference 5SE reliability I've has a Ref 5 SE for a year. No issues. Just beautiful music.Mike
Any experience with Esoteric K-05? In reference to my comment on 4/12 - the last sentence should state - "I feel the K-05 sounds better." I incorrectly, typed "K-03". Mike
Any experience with Esoteric K-05? Jeff,I own the Salon 2's driven by ARC (Ref 5SE and DS450). The K-05 sounds terrific in my system. I will confess that I've been tempted to upgrade to a K-03. I do not find the K-05 to be too neutral or "cold" - it is quite musical, not fatiguing ...
Any experience with Esoteric K-05? Agree with you Gordon. I'm part of that discussion in AA as well. Many audiophiles have purchased the K-03 and some have even upgraded to the K-01. The Esoteric K series players are outstanding.Mike
Any experience with Esoteric K-05? As much as I like the K-05, if I could do this all over again, I would seriously consider the K-03. I feel the 05 is outstanding at its price point and a top contender in the sub $10K price point. The K-03 is better but the price is 30% more as we...
Any experience with Esoteric K-05? I've owned the K-05 for the last 3 months. It is. Beautifully made player. Cosmetics and mechanics are terrific. Quiet player. Top is extended and detailed yet non fatiguing. Terrific soundstage. Bottom end is controlled and with adequate detail. ...
Amp/Preamp combo for Wilson Sophia 3's Tpsully,You never mentioned your budget.I have heard the Sophia 3s with ARC Ref 5SE and Ref 150. The sound was terrific. I agree with Lloydelee21's recommendations. Depends on your preferences and how much you want to spend! Thanks,Mike
who has done the ARC REF5 upgrade to SE I purchased a Ref 5SE - not an upgrade. The unit is wonderful. Very musical. Excellent top to bottom performance. I'm very pleased with it.I'm sure at some point, ARC will have a Ref 6 or 7. It's the nature of the business. For now, I will sit bac... |
