Beyond Ayre Pass and Rowland larryi,I guess there are some people that think like me.
Help me choosing an Integrated Amp I had the JR Continuum S2 which is Class D. I thought it sounded great; however the JR 625 S2(Class AB) is significantly more musical. Class D has the advantage when it comes to heat and the ability to leave them on continuously.
What next? Erik,You are correct and I'm going to take your advice. I will give some money to a charity.
What next? I have GIK room treatment. My thoughts are another sub(2nd sub), center channel(PLC350 is 5K, I'm hesitant to pay 5K), or nothing and "try" to be happy. I'm not sure is spending money on better rears is worth it?
What next? Erik,My Jeff Rowland 625 S2 amp drives my main speakers through my preamp's HT bypass. The Marantz drives the rear and center channel.
What next? Yes, I have an SVS PB2000 sub that I use for HT only
What next? jdlynch,I agree that speakers makes the biggest difference. It would be nice if there was someone on Audiogon that went from the MA Gold C350 to the PLC350 and would describe the differences they hear/
What next? elevick,I don't use the Marantz to drive the front speakers. The Marantz drives the center and rears only. The Rowland drives the fronts rather I'm watching a movie or listening to 2-channel. It's too expensive to try to match my Rowland, so I opt...
What next? Soix,I have a 2-channel and surround set-up.The Marantz only drives the center and rear speakers. When I'm listening to 2-channel the Marantz is turned off. My two channel consists of the Jeff Rowland 625 S2 amp, JR Corus preamp, and JR Aeris DAC....
Adding Center Channel I'm thinking of trading up from the Monitor Audio Gold C350 to the Platinum PLC350 center channel speaker. Has anyone compared the two? I don't have the opportunity to compare the two and would like some feedback. Any thoughts on the value of expe...
Is a Sub required for HT I watched the Jungle Book last night and the SVS PB- 2000 did exactly what I wanted. In a HT context it offers very, very good value.
Is a Sub required for HT I purchased an SVS PB 2000 today...no complaints!
Is a Sub required for HT Although its been a couple of years ago, I had an HSU sub and don't care for them. If it was for music it would be JL Audio, but for HT I submit SVS is a safe bet, offering good value.
Is a Sub required for HT I called Monitor Audio and they recommended the Gold 350 or Platinum 350 center channel to match the Pl500's. It's my understanding that the rears aren't as critical.
Is a Sub required for HT My front speakers are Monitor Audio PL500's, center Monitor Audio gold 350, rear are Monitor Audio Bronze 6. I'm thinking SVS PB 2000 as a relatively inexpensive sub.Yes, the sub setting is set to no sub. |
