REL Carbon Special Subwoofers or the REL G1 Gibraltar Reference Subwoo
nasaman, REL Reference models, the No. 31 & 32 are sealed subwoofers that don't use a passive radiator.  I initially loved the Carbon Special. My listening room is upstairs, carpet over a suspended wood floor. I could hear the passive radiat...
Does anybody pay a pro to dial their system in?
When I purchased new subwoofers from 3ma Audio in Houston, they setup my system. They started with removing my room treatment, room analysis, moving the listening position and speakers. The final steps were dialing in the subwoofers.
Marantz pm8006 vs Denon PMA-1700NE for combined home theatre and music room
I have a combined system...my Rowland amplifiers always drives my fronts and my Anthem components drives my center and rears in a 5.2 surround sound system. When I listen to 2-channel my Anthem components are turned off. Marantz component that I’v...
We should reject hard-to-drive speakers more often
atmasphere, My room is L-shaped...front wall is 20’ wide, length is 26’, rear wall is 26’ wide, and 9’ ceiling. My room is rather "neutral", not too lively and not dark.
We should reject hard-to-drive speakers more often
"@ricred1 MBLs are easier to drive than they might appear. That is because they are omnidirectional and when measured, the microphone is placed 1 meter away from the speaker. Most of the output of the speaker is thus not picked up. Effectively in ...
We should reject hard-to-drive speakers more often
Interesting...I'm considering MBL 101E speakers, but I'm hesitant due to them being hard to try.
Subwoofer Choice
I submit the room and what speakers you have are just important as the subwoofer manufacturer. That being said, I prefer REL Reference subwoofers. I've found that sealed subwoofers work better in my room. REL reference subwoofers are the only subw...
Rell or JL subwoofer?
"The only Sub to buy is REL." Some people don't prefer REL subwoofers and that's okay; therefore it isn't logical to suggest REL is the only subwoofer to purchase. I own REL subwoofers, but I don't like all of their models.
Rell or JL subwoofer?
I sent a PM, because I don’t feel like engaging in the silliness that often happens on Audiogon. Again, based on my experience of owning both JL Audio and REL subwoofers, I don’t agree with your statement that, "JL subs are, in large part, superio...
Rell or JL subwoofer?
"Differential amps must float ground." That statement isn't true. I floated the ground when  I had a JR 625 S2 with REL subs. I talked directly to Mr. Rowland and he said, I could ground the sub to the chassis or send it to him and he would add a ...
Rell or JL subwoofer?
"Solid State fully differential amps can NOT be used speaker level with REL subs." I believe my Rowland 735 amplifiers are fully differential amps and I have used three different REL subs with my Rowland amps and they didn’t damage my 625 S2 or 73...
Rell or JL subwoofer?
I’ve owned Martin Logan, HSU, SVS SB15 and SB16, JL Audio F110s with the CR1, JL Audio F112s, REL Carbons, and REL G1 mkII, I currently use REL No. 32s. Which one works best for you depends on your room, system, and your preferences.
HT and 2 channel in same room? 1 or 2 systems?
I just decided to add HT to my 2-channel again. I purchased a Marantz Cinema 50 AVR to drive my center and rears. I use my Corus's HT bypass to allow my amps to drive my front speakers. So far, it'd been a disaster with ground loop noise that I ha...
Lone Star Audio Fest 2023
I wish the Dallas Audio Show was bigger and wonder why it isn't?
