Is Modern Jazz an Oxymoron?
Does everyone define "modern jazz" differently? I listen to I what I consider modern jazz...Boney James, Najee, David Sandborn, Kirk Whalum, Brian Culbertson, Paul Brown, and many more. Some call what I consider modern jazz, "smooth jazz".
Audiophile demographics?
My wife isn’t an "audiophile", but I trust her ears to help me make component purchasing decisions. She listens to 4 or 5 of her favorite songs every time I've brought a new component home to audition. She provides me feedback on her thoughts usin...
Is it better to have two matched subs or one
Duke," Real (or synthetic) stereo bass can offer an enhanced sense of immersion in the acoustic space of the recording." That has been my experience and why I believe most systems benefit from using subwoofers.
So you have a great hi end stereo preamp, but
Not all, but many hi-end stereo preamps have HT bypass.
Do you use a Subwoofer when listening to stereo?
" Does excluding sub from stereo make sense?" Only you can answer that question. In my experience many systems benefit from having properly integrated subwoofers. Properly integrated subwoofers improve the "spatial" information within the recordi...

DAVE w/ or w/out M Scaler?
I don’t believe in absolutes in audio, but in my system I prefer the Dave without the M-Scaler. In my opinion the Dave sounds "artificial" with the M-Scaler...in other words, something just didn’t sound right. I’m sorry I can’t provide a better de...
Total bass suck out at 40hz
Based on the measurement I sent them, REL actually said the solution isn’t more subs, but to get the main speakers positioned correctly.
Total bass suck out at 40hz
mizike,Yes, I'm referring to moving the main speakers closer to the wall behind the speakers. I plan on moving them in small increments and taking measurements to see if moving them helps eliminate the 40hz suck out.
Total bass suck out at 40hz
mizike,I had a guy measure my room using REW Room EQ Wizard. He said, "my speakers have real bass output down to 22hz in my room, but I have a 40hz suck out." I have dual REL G1 MK2 subs. My room is treated with GIK products. I sent the measuremen...
Purifi Based Amps - Any Opinions?
helomech,REL uses a Class AB in their G1 MKII and some of their other subs, but Class D in their No. 25, 212/SE, S/812, Carbon Limited, and S/510.
Msb dacs why not alot of postings
mikelavigne,I applaud your comments. I treat Audio like every other thing that I've purchased. I simply try to find the "best" component based on my preference and price range.
How do I feed the Chord Dave? TT2 plus m scaler, a better choice?
I have a Dave and tried the M-scaler. I prefer the Dave by itself in my system. No absolutes in Audio, only preferences.
