Is Pretty Good Good Enough? Listening Habits In The World Of Streaming Services.
My streaming setup way surpasses CD and vinyl, both of which are no longer used. All my original CD’s are ripped to a NAS drive, so I can choose to listen to my original version, or the latest update on Qobuz. Filtering out noise on the wired ne...
Roon Streaming Service actually Degrades the sound
@markmuse Do you have an Android device? Or could borrow one? If so, try installing BubbleUPNP on it, it’s very cheap, then try streaming from Qobuz within the app to the Bricasti. I think you’ll find it’s pretty good.
Weakest digital link: DAC - Streamer - Server?
There are 4 elements to an excellent streaming setup. The Network, The Streamer, The Music Server, The DAC. The network, streamer and DAC are the most important in equal measure. Skimp on any of these and you won’t get there. The music server is...
$2k-$3k DAC Purchase
Musetec DA005. Stunning DAC. Does everything you’d want.
What are you using as a streamer? Constructive feedback please.
3D Labs Nano Transport Signature, with upgraded PSU. Ethernet input via Network Acoustics ENO and Rubicon network switch. Perfection.
How to tame a bright system?
You have a great DAC, amp, speakers, but based on my experience the streamer is causing the issue you describe. Try something like a Bricasti M5 with good Ethernet RFI filtering and you’ll get a much more analogue and musically involving sound, wi...
Can the digital "signal" be over-laundered, unlike money?
My experience is that a really good Ethernet switch with attention paid to the PSU and the clock improves the natural timbre of voices and instruments, along with a general increase in clarity. Adding a top class Ethernet Filter to remove RFI and ...
Ethernet Clocking
@lmcmalo I wish you could come round to hear my system with its ‘special switch’ and Ethernet RFI filtering. I would give you a demonstration of streaming from Qobuz with the Ethernet signal direct from the router, and then via the special switch ...
Moving away from inefficient/low impedance speaker in order to move to a Tube Amp
I have no need for inefficient amps that double as room heaters. Try the fabulous AGD amps, they look like tubes, they sound like tubes, they drive any speaker. They consume less energy, save you money, tubes don’t wear out. They even glow orange!...
Network Switches
With my network switch, I can easily hear the difference between two high quality PSU’s. So it’s not just the switch itself that changes the sound, but also the power supply powering the switch.
What song have you played the most?
Funeral for a friend, Elton John - loud!Red right hand - Nick Cave

What comes after Harbeth 30.1s?
If you can pick up a 2nd hand pair of Shahinian Obelisk 2’s, you won’t be disappointed. I’ve had C7 XD and M30.2 XD, not a patch on the clarity you can get with the Obelisks.
Which Harbeths?
I’ve had both and the C7 sound is a bit warmer, more bass extension and lovely treble, a perfectly balanced speaker for detail mixed with easy on the ear, a speaker you can very happily live with and not feel you’re missing anything. For me, and t...
The "Snake Oil" Trope
Until such time that a piece of test equipment can accurately display ‘graphs’ of how my brain interprets what I actually hear, all graphs from test equipment are pointless.
