Teres, Galibier and Redpoint
Well, I spent 3 hours listening to the Galibier Gavia with a Moerch arm and a Van Den Hull Black Beuty. Black background and a very tight sense of image focus. It's tough to point out the sonic attributes of the table because all of the electronic...

I'm going to see my first Galibier table today. I'll report on my impressions tonight.
Anyone try Townshend Super Tweeters?
Albert Von Schweikert highly recommended Fountek 3" ribbon super tweeters to me. For $81 apiece I purchased them through Madisound and installed them a couple weeks ago. I added a couple quality Hovland capacitors, 5 feet of wire, banana plugs and...

Since Cello's moniker has been brought up, I've been trying to reach you off and on as well, like for the last year! And I live in South Florida!! Cello/Larry, are you alive or do you have a beard typing for you?
Teres, Galibier and Redpoint
HI guys - being the person who started this thread I thought I'd keep you up to date on my decision making and fact gathering. First, I've yet to make any analog changes but I've added a power conditioner and super tweeters. Strange but true. But ...
Teres, Galibier and Redpoint
Dan ed - No, I have not made a decision yet and I'm probably not any closer to making one. It depends what side of the bed I get up on. I'm sure all three of the models would be great. But since I've started this thread there seems to be some well...

Doug - Thanks for the info on the belt. It's amazing that it would make that big an improvement.
Teres, Galibier and Redpoint
Now that CES is over, I would like to keep the above question going. I've discovered that there are some opinions out there that say the Galibier and Redpoint tables have more PRaT than the Teres. ???????

Guys - This is great! All three tables use a DC motor. Which I think is the better choice, as is the battery option.

Meby - As far as my Avid is concerned, I really have nothing negative to say about it. It is overmatched, price-wise, by my arm and I do want to get another cartridge (maybe a Lyra Titan instead of my Helicon). The Volvere is the first model in it...

Dan ed- Do you know why Redpoint does not couple the arm and bearing? I could give Peter a call but I'll wait until after the holidays. Aesthetics don't mean much to me but I kinda go for the Redpoint's anodized red model. I have seen a Teres 340 ...
Motor & Bearing or Cartridge upgrade?
Raul, Thom, etc. I've been asking around about the above question and so far it's straight down the middle with good arguements on both sides. Is it true that one must have a really superior table to bring out all the virtues of a great cartridge?...
Manly Steelhead - any downside??
Jtimothya - I actually own the Thor linestage with phono MKII version, which is the newest. Through circumstance, I was able to get it at quite a reduced cost compared to retail. I believe retail is 13k. I did not have the opportunity to demo many...
Manly Steelhead - any downside??
I have owned an Art Audio Vinyl 1 phonostage and currently have a Thor. Both tube. The Vinyl 1 is terrific for any price and it goes for about 2.3k. It is quite warm and welcoming without losing detail. The soundstage is particularly deep. It is a...
ZYX Universe and Lyra Titan
Guys. Guess what? I'm the original poster. Thanks for all your comments. Lugnuts was my favorite - with the cost between cartridges because of the Lyra discount, that's probably the way to go unless price is unimportant. I've yet to offer an opini...
