Trans Fi Salvation direct rim drive turntable
Dover. In private correspondence I have had with CT0517, he has told me that there much by way of set up of the Verdier that is not at first apparent. This to realise its full performance potential.Perhaps you could contact him directly and compare...

LewBill T advises that electonics of that era be kept powered continuously to improve longevity. From memory it was something to do with the substrate used in IC's of the time.Others have noticed sonic benefits when doing this regardless of the vin...

Dover. What?read my post again.re LO7D FYI, The mechanical brake acts on the platter itself. With the platter removed, the sub platter raises up and contacts the plastic targets I mentioned. This is the apparently locked bearing that both Lew and I...
Trans Fi Salvation direct rim drive turntable
I had a look at the trans Fi web site. This is a very nice TT and exceptional value for the modest cost . Knowing a little about machining expenses, I would say that it is an amazing achievement. Very much like the raw design. No unnecessary bling ...

Thekong. At the risk of annoying a bunch of people ... I cannot see how a pure magnetic suspended main bearing can provide the necessary loop rigidity. I doubt that it is self compensating like say a captive air bearing, so it is prone to vertical ...

Lew.I to was alarmed with an apparently locked bearing when I received a LO7D to upgrade. There are small plastic targets on the motor coil side of the PCB. These prevent the rotor from contacting the coils when no platter is installed. The idea is...

Lew.Just for clarity, the LO7D uses the rotor magnets to remove 'some' of the vertical load on the thrust bearing (steel ball and hard plastic). It is not actually suspended in that there is mechanical contact. That said it is a really interesting...
Has anyone had trouble with speed on their tt
Omsed. If you are observing dynamic speed changes, greater than 1% in a closed loop system, I would suggest that the TT is poorly designed or malfunctioning.
Has anyone had trouble with speed on their tt
Dougdeacon said..."No strobe (Timeline or otherwise) operates in short enough increments of time to detect micro-/pico-/nano-second variations. Knowing that a TT is speed stable across a time span of minutes tells us nothing about how stable or un...

Lew.Good points raised. Perhaps I should have said "little doubt" Experience has shown that doing away with shielding, provided their is no problematic external RFI, is "almost always" better. Don't kick it too hard.

HalcroI have no doubt that they are better au-naturel.It makes sense to eliminate this material from around the motor. Imagine the fields set up in it due to the power supply and the rotating magnets.Fields acting on sensitive analogue circuits.It...

LewI know that it is a leap but, we have experienced problems with servo feedback systems in our, hydraulic industry. This where shielding has been inadequate. ( yes I thought of Halcro's birthday suit) while simultaneously being exposed to RFI.A f...

LewA crude but effective test for RFI which is perhaps worth trying. If you have a portable AM radio. Tune it off station and move it around your room listening for increased static. Maybe something there that is not at first apparent.

LewApart from static issues, which I'm sure you have considered, are there any transmitting devices near by? Something with more output than a cell phone?VHF, RT, radio ham neighbor?

Boofer.Suggest you contact Bill at Music Technology. He is very experienced working with the Technics range.note: I have some commercial interest in DD TT upgrades. Thanks.
