Do Streamer only devices really impact sound quality?
Simply put… they can all sound different from one another. If you cannot hear the difference between one streamer and another, then it could be a question of the associated equipment? But even a low cost system should reveal the difference.  I us...
Balanced vs. Single Ended Interconnects
I’d recommend the “World’s Best Cables” as a solid trial for xlr’s using quality mogami or canare cabling. They’re also very well terminated, most with neutrik connectors. Was a bit skeptical until I purchased a set and saw how well they’re made. ...
Streamer/DAC - Where is the value?
Kind of back to your original consideration, the newer Auralic G1.1 transport might be worth checking out. It’s supposed to be outfitted with a better power supply than the dac version (Tarun the British Audiophile did a good comparison to the ear...
Thoughts about the "Cheapaudioman" on YouTube
@johnah5  Man…I wish I could come by and hear those! All the way down in Jax Fl, unfortunately. I remember checking those out via their affiliate company website - Role Audio - when ordering some plinths for some totem arrows I had a while back. ...
Thoughts about the "Cheapaudioman" on YouTube
+1 @curtdr  I too look for that certain value proposition in equipment that stretches far past the price point, and Randy has brought some very well designed components and speakers into mind’s eye. He also encourages the diy journey as a means t...
Router for Audio Streaming
+ 1 @soix Makes a great point. I was streaming wifi with good reception from an rpi based Mercury streamer. Tried a fairly cheap TP link extender (set to client during setup) with Ethernet cable and noticed a serious improvement. And the wifi on...
CD Transport Question
I’m in a similar situation. Have you taken a look at any of the Cayin cd player options? Great builds and designs with a comparably great value proposition. Also, NuPrime has some great players and transports that can be found within the 1k-2k ran...
Anyone using 2 preamps in their rig?
You know…I was wondering about this very idea. But with a good solid state and an equivalent in quality tube preamp. I’ve been jonesing to get an SPL Elector, but also see some very nice tube pre’s I’d also like to own. Would be a fairly simple pr...
Atma-Sphere Class D… Amazing
@jerryg123  Wow, hadn’t seen this 6moons article! Very cool, thank you 🙏🏼  They really are making some nice stuff.
Atma-Sphere Class D… Amazing
@jerryg123 I had been confused about it initially, as GoldNote does not clearly specify what’s actually going on with the PA10’s internals. But learned this from a HiFiPig review (as quoted): ‘I’m a massive advocate of Class D technology when i...
Atma-Sphere Class D… Amazing
Someday would love to try a set of these! But got to say, pretty solidly in love with my current GoldNote PA-10 (class A into GaN power stage). But truth and proof in class D from here on out.
Walk me thru upgrading from my BS Node
+1 to the HifiRose or Lumin recommendations. Also +1 using an extender and cable. I don’t own one, but so many “fawn” over them (as you so aptly described). But serious, excellent sq and UI. I’m personally using a rpi based streamer by Pi2design. ...
Streamer Upgrade
I’m now on a Mercury streamer by Pi2design. I mean, I’ve already mentioned it way to much here, but it just keeps blowing my mind. It’s based on a raspberry pi 4, but with some extremely high end clocks, a well built-out/extended board, and some ...
Busted! Reviewer copies manufacturers sales page in review?
All this nefarious practice aside…are Tellurium cables actually good? Has anyone here actually tried them (I’ll read back to see if I’ve missed someone who has)? Diluted truth tainting what is actually a good product, or is it just another case of...
B.S. Node 2i brick (yet another one)
Would highly recommend the excellent new Zen Stream. Or if you’re willing to use an rpi based unit with upnp/variable software then the new Mercury streamer by Pi2design (well I believe) will blow away the node 2i in sq.
