Tried just my DAC as Preamp and started something.
@likat Really do appreciate your responding to the thrill aspect of this. I am overall happy to hear a significant difference, even if it solely serves as an indicator that my system is - at least - resolving enough to behave so differently with a...

Very good advice, thank you. Counter to my exuberance, I’m definitely going to give this some time and switch back, more time again and switch, etc.
N.P.I. What is it?
No phantom image…very interesting. Have to say, Ive always thoroughly enjoyed original mono recordings through my system. Have yet to try the single speaker approach. There are some fairly recent recordings out there made in a “live studio” set...
Will a new Dac improve the sound?
+ 1 on the Audiolab CDT6000 Some well reviewed “newer” dacs blow $1k that have really broken through in terms of excellent tone, stage, and detail: Denafrips Ares II Topping D70s (I’m using this one and am astonished at how good it sounds) SMS...
Bluesound Node 2021 DAC - I sold my Denafrips Ares II
Well, I think that sounds like a GREAT system. Have to say, synergy is a big part of things. May even supersede needing any particularly expensive or separate pieces in the chain. Puts a smile on my face that you mentioned the Quad S2’s. Ive got t...
Would appreciate a group consensus on Agon purchased amps
Understandable that your frustrated with the idea of assumed policy…but this is probably not a big one? Especially with even decently built cords that can be found new for around $50-$60. Those Bell Cantos will absolutely “sing” with decent low-mi...
How much “suspension of disbelief do you need?”
Are we really trying to recreate the performance? Every time, every place, every piece I perform with any given ensemble (my own or someone else’s) it sounds different…with inherently good and bad things happening sonically. But I will at least en...
AKM makes the best DACs
I upgraded to a Topping D70s from an airist audio r2r. And I was simply astonished at the improvement in tonality, stage, depth, separation, clarity, air (all the typical buzzwords, etc). Not really comparable, very different topology associated w...
Walmart, 97 cents, for Vibration Control
Lol! I bet if you actually make the penguin (in the picture gallery) and place it on your amp, you’ll arrive at the optimal benefit to resolve those spurious micro vibes 👍🏼
Can recommend some non-fatigue SMALL bookshelf for near-field listening?
If you’re expecting only around 10 inches deep, probably not going to find any serious amount of bass extension. However, some small form speakers these days are pretty amazing relative to size. But if you’re expecting more oomph than what you’ve ...
Integrated upgrade recomendations
Creek, Music Fidelity, Burson, Rogue, or a Kinki (super nice Chinese amps that hit WAY above their price).    but yeah, Belles is also killin’!
CDP or Transport and DAC? Recomendations?
What about Jay’s Audio CDT2 MKIII? Havent experienced personally, but so many rave about it. Good company dedicated to their product, besides. but even an Audiolab CDT 6000 would do impressively well…albeit below the level that your budget might...
Products you added to your system in 2021 that made most impact to your music enjoyment
This year, Got some Quad S2‘’s at great price. Even on cheap sand filled stands, they sound really glorious. Then upgraded to a Topping D70s. What an outstanding and rather overlooked dac! Hits way above its price point. Listening space is small...
Qobuz sound quality intermittent issues?
Very late to the game on this one, but just started streaming on a serious serious service (besides Spotify). Just experienced this vey same issue just tonight for the first time. Heard exactly what was described here: strange mid glair, veiled hi...
Who Tried Power Conditioners Over The Years and No Longer Use Them Today, Any Why?
Interestingly,Plugging my amp directly to the outlet (instead of three different high quality multiplugs I’d sampled) made my system more dynamic, rich, and full-sounding. It wasn’t a figment of my aural imagination…it was clear, evident, and palp...
