Optical/Toslink VS RCA how big a diff?
Uh, guys, he said the unit does not have a coax input either. It's a 2-channel analog pre-amp, so it doesn't have any on-board processing of digital signals, i.e., no optical or coaxial digital connection. He's asking if he will hear a difference ...
Optical/Toslink VS RCA how big a diff?
Toslink/Optical is a digital transmission medium. It transmits a digital bitstream that is decoded by the processor/receiver. RCA is an analog signal. Do you use your current setup for 2-channel playback of TV sound or multi-channel? If your curre...

Johnnyb,Thanks for the link to Tone Audio. I had forgotten about it and I really enjoyed the review of the AT tt. But! I even more enjoyed the review of The Tubes concert and the interview with Fee Waybill in the same issue. I was a huge fan in th...

More pre-amp help....? Feeling lost
Is the Oppo your only source? If so, plug it directly into the power amp and use the remote controlled variable output built into the Oppo. I'm currently using my EVS Level 2 Mod'd Oppo 970 this way. Works just fine, except some of the volume step...
Naim DIN v. RA Opus DIN
DNM makes a version of the Reson cable which is DIN on one end and RCAs on the other. I believe it is the cable recommended by Resolution Audio, but any with the correct pin-outs will work.TIC

I don't know anything about newer Metronome gear, but I saw this link in another post today. Looks to be the US distributor or a dealer. Anyway, he does list both of those units on his product and price list.http://www.tmhaudio.com/Enjoy,TIC

Rxlarry99,Are you looking for an HD-DVD player that plays the high-resolution format HD-DVDs. Or are you asking about an upsampling player that upsamples standard DVDs to 1080i or even 1080p?If you are talking about an upsampler, then yes, the Opp...
Who else wants to keep their system secret?
I don't post my system, but not because I want to keep it a secret. I don't post because it tends to change so often.....it's like trying to hit a moving target. :)Ha, Ha! Me too! Mine changed tonight. The virtual system on my page is about 10-15 ...
Any good stereo shops in Dayton or Cincinnati Ohio
Geared4me,My system just got more simple tonight. I just bought a pair of Quad 12L Active speakers and have them hooked directly to the variable output of my EVS level 2 mod'd Oppo 970 Universal player. It can't get much more simple than that! 2 c...
Any good stereo shops in Dayton or Cincinnati Ohio
Chuck,I think you are out of luck. We are, uh, underserviced, here in the Queen City (Cinci). Incredibly we have several boutique manufacturers, i.e. Wavelength Audio, UltraFi/Larry Moore Audio, Morrow Audio and Parker Audio, but not much in the w...
Best sound on classic rock cds
I think the 1995 re-issue of The Who's - "Who's Next" is pretty good. Of course, it is often mentioned in "best rock album of all time" threads, and the re-issue is much better than the earlier version I also own. It is MCAD-11269 in the catalog.E...
