Is There Just One Single Album That Does It For You, Completely? Just One.
apologies for the duplication
Is There Just One Single Album That Does It For You, Completely? Just One.
There IS a way out of the problem of having to pick just ONE album. A summer job in my formative years involved working on the apparatus used in PhD grants, and when there was a gap….us part-time guys were sent to the experiment station farm to c...

Moody Blues “Seventh Sojourn”  (currently my favorite) Heard it streaming on vacation and can’t get it out of my head…bought the 2007 (?) remaster and am pleased.  Even in the day….believed to be their best (and final) release.
Are you on or off? What say you?
I must be “HiFi” curious…in an ascetic sort of way. My system is a means to an end….enjoying music to its fullest. life is a law of averages…..except for you and me…
Shane MacGowan has passed on.
With an album entitled “Rum, Sodomy, and the Lash” one knew the Pogues weren’t going to deliver a load of ballad/love songs! Elvis Costello at the producer’s helm didn’t hurt……til the next day.
Does a particular musician’s songwriting and artistry speak to you above all others?
When Michael Hedges got going he was indeed mesmerizing. Another outstanding musician who left the planet way too soon.
Do you think driver “break in” is real?
As a similar analogy, consider a new automobile engine: There’s a reason you’re not supposed to over-rev the thing until so many hours have passed. i agree that break-in periods are difficult to empirically evaluate due to our familiarization wit...
Sansui?
In 1974 I was in the Navy and had a WestPac friend get me a Sansui Eight Deluxe and I chose the Acoustic Research AR 3a speakers, which supposedly haven’t aged well. I recall looking at a range of speakers including KLH, JBL, Advent, Bose, Klipsc...
At what price is one considered an Audiophile.
The Cambridge dictionary defines an Audiophile: a person who is very interested in and enthusiastic about equipment for playing recorded sound, and its quality   I kinda like that definition. Perhaps most music lovers are audiophiles at heart; ...
Help us build our playlist for our next show in November!
If I was the list maker I’d consider Mahavishnu Orchestra cuts from Visions of the Emerald Beyond: Eternity’s Breath - Part 1 (plus Part 2, time permitting) Lila’s Dance Can’t Stand Your Funk Pastoral Faith In essence, all of side one has a ...
I won the stressless lottery
Did it come with NOS tubes?
Would you choose 1 ou 2 subwoofers for a stereo set?
Because I needed a small subwoofer that would fit under my modified-buffet stereo cabinet, I chose to start with one sub and was immediately pleased with the enhanced SQ. However, after listening for a few weeks I decided something was off, the b...
The greatest Pop song yet written and recorded.
(Manic Monday is another great Prince-written song.) Heaven is 10 Zillion Light Years Away by Stevie W. is one I always find comfort with. The saddest, concise, mostly unknown pop song IMO is Quits by Danny O’Keefe, Linda Ronstadt backing vocals...
