BoenickeAudio's "unique" wood speaker driver?
FWIW, I use the Tang Band 3” bamboo cone full range in my front loaded DIY horns-it’s quite the driver from about 700 Hz on up.
'Short' horns
Also, look at the Cessaro Wagner l- that’s a pretty good example of a LeCleach horn at the top.  It’s smaller- I had a woodturner here in Chicago turn a pair for me, with a full range driver from around 700 Hz to 20 kHz the sound is pretty stunnin...

I do quite a bit of DIY.  Right now I’m listening to a pair of 2 way speakers with a 6.5” woofer and a 3” wide-range driver mounted in an 11” diameter turned maple horn.  Design is similar to the Viking Acoustics Berlin.  To my ears, the sound is ...
BEST HARMLESS/SIGNATURELESS SPEAKERS CAPACITORS.
@erik_squires  Two-way is much easier. Don’t post here much, but I do a lot of DIY speaker building.  The Jantzen Alumen Z are very neutral and pretty reasonable cost for the sound quality they provide.
Amazon just killed Tidal
Has anyone figured out how to add Amazon HD to their Bluesound node 2? “Add Service” just results in Amazon music.
Anyone Damp the insides of your Speaker Cabinets?
I diy’d my speakers-bass reflex and a front loaded horn.  Generally, with a ported design I line the walls with .5” wool felt pad and avoid stuffing the enclosure.  A sealed design usually utilizes stuffing.  Transmission line designs use a very s...
Nuforce STA200
With my current speakers at 89dB, it rarely ever gets even warm, and I can’t go beyond a quarter turn with my passive pre amp before it gets uncomfortably loud.  Not sure if that translates into having the headroom for a driver that’s 84dB.  I kno...
Nuforce STA200
Had my amp for about a year now, no issues, great sound.  Current speakers (diy) are 89 dB.  Looking at a new design where efficiency would be 84dB.  Be interested in hearing from anyone that’s paired this amp with lower efficiency speakers.
Nuforce STA200
Luminous Audio Axiom ii passive preamp works great with this amp.  I use one, and I think another poster here does as well.  Dead quiet even with the STA-200’s high gain.
Nuforce STA200
Read the link quoted above.  I don’t pretend to understand all of the amp’s measurements, but I know from speaker building that some that measure well don’t sound particularly good, and vice versa.  My speakers have a good 5dB peak from 10 kHz to ...

I thought about the Pro-ject Prebox, but this where it gets a little complicated.....I’ve had this system together only 1 year, started from ground zero, and now I have upgrade-itis.  Deciding what to upgrade next is tough.  With the STA-200 as th...

Been reading about a lot of dacs, trying to figure out what might best match this amp.  NuForce has the Dac-9, there’s the Metrum Acoustics Amethyst, and I very tempted to go tube rolling with the Jolida Tube fx Mk3.  I listen exclusively thru Tid...

Hi MrD-Are you using a dac with the STA-200?  If so, which one?  I think we’re both using the same passive pre amp.  I’m using a CEntrance dac mini, but thinking of upgrading.
USB-cable: In between Neo Oyaide d+ and Tellurium Q Silver? 150 - 200 range?
I replaced my AQ Carbon USB with the Oyaide Neo d+ A and noticed improvement in SQ— clearer treble and better soundstage.  So much of this is system dependent and synergistic though.
Fixing your cable problems forever.
+1 erik_squires- with diy you can really tweak to get the best response with your equipment/room.  With my diy speakers that meant upgrading the caps from Clarity Cap PX to Mundorf Supremes.  They remain a work in progress; with a commercial produ...
