P300 Users: where do you place the unit? On a piece of limestone cut to size (5'' high). Really the heat and all that is not an issue if you do not overload it.
Tubes on Proac 1.5's Used Rogue Magnum 120. Absolutley great match. Affordable This speaker needs alot of current and headroom.
Analog under 2k? The Aries Scout at 1600 US including JMW 9 arm is very tough to beat in its price point. You can pick from a range of cartridges Dynavector 10X5, clearaudio wood virtuoso, or benz ACE or Glider depending on listening bias. The table is good enough...
Cones for Llano Trinity Amp Try using the BDR Pucks with the cones. I would advise doing this anyway cince they greatly improve upon the performance of the cone alone. Again they come in #3 and #4 flavors.
What tweak, what to do? SAve your money and buy a good rack. Do not waste your money on isolation devices until you get a good foundation. For your gear I would go light and rigid. Check out Sound Organization or Target. I would also recommend a wall shelf for the TT eve...
Upgrade of interconnects - Suggestions welcome Try new Audioquest DBS line. Point of entry is the Jaguar at 300 for meter. I have Cheetahs and they are fantasic. Natural tone/sound stage, dynamic, don't get in the way.
Calling Thiel owners please... Try Audio Points. They have a version made for Thiels. I have had great success with other speakers.
Ekos problem/setup questions I have a Clearaudio wood virtuoso on my ekos lp/12 and really thihk it mates well and is very reasonably priced (600 w/trade 750 retail).
Power cords for active speakers-- I really like the Shunyata Diamond Back. Very lively cable with great rythm and pacing. Cable is light and flexible and has great shielding. Cable is $175. Newer has additional shielding puching it close to the Sidewinder performance.
Rega P-25 Tweeks .........What works for you ??? Another upgrade would be the Sheer Audio acrylic platter. Takes aware some of the forwardness of the glass platter but retains detail and timing. Also like the Extreme phono none felt mat on the glass platter at half the cost of the ringmat.
help with turntable skipping I agree that a wall shelf is the way to go. Target makes a nice shelf in two sizes ($150). Apollo is another good brand. Sound Organization doesn't make a unit anymore. You can also try moving the TT to a spot where there is less footfall. I have ...
Phono Stage for passive preamp control The gain issue is really important when using a passive preamp even with SS units. I would pick a unit that is adjustable in case you need to dial it in. I have a Naim hicap/stageline that I love but really did not work well when I had my Rogue Te...
Can I get suggestions for a tube preamp please? I really enjoy my Rogue 99 Magnum. Coming up on one year and my appreciation grows. It ia very flexible with many other amps. I think Rogue can configue it with the HT bypass but do not think the balanced outputs are an option. Good Luck.
Reterminating Nordost- worth it? Re-terminating is mot a big deal if you send it to Nordost. I think the fee is around 50$. The big deal is if you ever get a bi-wire speaker again. What I would would do is send them to Nordost and get one set of conductors changed to spades. You ...
Linn LP12 Black Felt Mat How do you keep it on ? I will add another reco for the Extreme phono donut mat on the LP/12. More detail w/o losing postive qualities. My Linn dealer likes it better than the felt mat. SC53 are you serious about your Linn dealer not servicing the table.. come on really?... |
