Holo Audio May DAC
I decided to try a reference-level R2R DAC instead of my Qutest, which is the only DAC I’ve ever owned. I also didn’t want to spend more than I needed to. I chose the May based on the stereophile and stereotimes reviews. Both experienced reviewers...

Louis is sending me a pair of 10" subwoofers to match my Junior Alnico XRS towers.  That should solve the bass problem!
Best options for active speakers $4k or below?
I appreciate the ideas. Thank you. Aside from the Elac, I don't think recording studio monitors are ideal, though.  The speakers would be in a medium sized living room not in near field.  Are these the only options?

It would be helpful if you provided more info about the reason for your amp change...
Holo Audio May DAC
2nd day impressions: Not sure if it was a little more burn-in, some better recordings, or some premium ganja that was on hand, but the May DAC sounded TREMENDOUS last night.  Listened to some Miles Davis "In a Silent Way", some Radiohead "Paranoid...
Is there measurement that correlates with cohesive/pinpoint imaging?
@djones51   Thanks for the tips about these other speakers
Is there measurement that correlates with cohesive/pinpoint imaging?
I do know that in the same room with the same equipment, my Omega single driver speakers had a much more coherent and precise image than my Klipsch Forte IIIs and a pair of Vienna Acoustics Mozarts that I compared a little.
Is there measurement that correlates with cohesive/pinpoint imaging?
@tomic601  Time and Phase....read what JA has to say about Vandersteen “imaging champs”.... Thanks for the helpful reply.  I just read JA's review of the Vandersteen Quatro Wood.  His measurements are interesting.   https://www.stereophile.com...
Is there measurement that correlates with cohesive/pinpoint imaging?
Above... That was a helpful addition to the thread. Thanks! Otherwise, how are these multi-driver speakers solving this problem?  If there's engineering involved there's got to be some math or measurements of some kind.Do any speakers truly image ...
Holo Audio May DAC
Just got my May Level 2 yesterday.  Plugged it into my Torus TOT Max conditioner.  Currently streaming ROON from my remote laptop through wifi to mesh endpoint then via ethernet to my HifiBerry Digi + outputting via coax to the May in NOS mode.  M...
Is there measurement that correlates with cohesive/pinpoint imaging?
Well, that's unfortunate!  Lots of speaker companies claim to have a focus on coherent imaging, but nobody has any idea how to measure it?  Do phase alignment/time alignment correlate?
Does solar + battery installation improve sound quality vs "the grid"?
br3098:Thanks for your reply. I have a 40 year old house that hasn't had a ton of electrical work done from what I can tell. Not planning to go off-grid, nor even to install batteries right away. But I am interested in doing the solar installation...
Review on the Rockna Audio Wavelight Pre/DAC just went up on Stereo Times
These days you can get a great sounding DAC and not have to spend more then 6K and sleep well knowing you have a level of performance that as good as far more expensive pieces without breaking the bank. It does seem like the newer reference-lev...
Review on the Rockna Audio Wavelight Pre/DAC just went up on Stereo Times
Today, for very reasonable amounts of money there are many excellent DACs that offer higher levels of performance with slight differences between them in actuality. This is definitely good news. Where do you think this one falls in? Better to your ...
Review on the Rockna Audio Wavelight Pre/DAC just went up on Stereo Times
I guess we just have to read between the lines here. If the reviewer had thought this was an especially good DAC, relative to others, he would have written that. If there were any apparent shortcomings with this DAC, I guess we'll have to figure t...
