Amplifier brand/designer with the most unique and consistent “house sound?” How would the house sound of Ayre best be described?
Amplifier brand/designer with the most unique and consistent “house sound?” I gotta hear these dang Ayer amps, huh?
Band of an instrumental piece played in march 1971 on a FM station from Muncie, IN? There’s a great ‘Married... With Children” episode in which Al goes on a far flung quest to find out the name of a song he heard on the radio, “Anna.” It was absurd in the show even though the song had just played in the car on his ride home that ...
Learning To Listen I’ve been helping a friend get into the hobby lately. He doesn’t have very good listening skills, but his system is getting more transparent. I’ve found it’s easier to start with the differences between speakers when getting him good listening exp...
Townshend Audio Podiums: The Full Review The isoacoustics oreas have done wonders for my speakers and tube preamp. Haven’t compared with Townsend devices, but maybe both great?
What 50wpc or higher amps have a totally different sound from Pass Labs, in a good way? @rh67 - would love to hear an LTA amp in my system.@jg2077 - will do.
Disappointment with Pass Labs - I'm looking for something else Darren Myers, engineer at PS Audio, recently commented in his podcast that he has loved Cornwalls with push pull tube amps based on EL34s. Worth a try if you want to get the best out of those speakers.
Are your current amps and other gear the best you've ever had? @phd I'm gonna hold you to that, young man...
Disappointment with Pass Labs - I'm looking for something else I find that the XA30.8 sounds very very sweet but actually too much. I find it to be a loosely defined amp, somewhat muddy and lacks a lot of air and grip. The soundstage is very closed. If this is your experience with the pass xa30.8, you either g...
What 50wpc or higher amps have a totally different sound from Pass Labs, in a good way? After going from Pass XA30.8 to Octave v110 (KT120 P-P 100wpc) and back to Pass, I think that nice PP tube amps are a different and enjoyable beast. Much fuller sound, denser soundstage, more immersive on the Octave. VERY detail-oriented, precise,...
My list of tweaks and the verdict @mahgister You have certainly better things to do, i guess it will be improving your acoustic treatment and controls...This experience is a sign of a lack in your acoustic settings.... You have psychic abilities now too? You have no idea how m...
Are your current amps and other gear the best you've ever had? This thread altogether so far conveys a general sense of satisfaction that is great to read. I'm sure not everyone feels this way, and maybe those guys didn't want to post here, but it is a good time to be an audiophile (with disposable income, at...
My list of tweaks and the verdict Appreciate some reporting from the tweak trenches, OP. My favorite recent tweak: isoacoustics oreas under my harbeth 30.2s and tube preamp. And I tried a Schumann generator for a while, didn't make an audible difference. I guess I could have tried ...
What 50wpc or higher amps have a totally different sound from Pass Labs, in a good way? Would love to hear CJ Art line, Ayre, Atmasphere. Clearly high end, unique designs.
What 50wpc or higher amps have a totally different sound from Pass Labs, in a good way? Got to say, ayre gear is sounding very intriguing. Where in their line is the sweet spot for preamp, power amp? Also, I've been digging the octave v110 as a contrast to the pass. Fuller more authoritative sound. Bypassing it's preamp section with m... |
