Speaker Placement
Front wall/back wall? I'm from downunder remember, it all looks different from here. I haven't had any chance to use RHUBARB yet on this post, which is my only disappointment. Otherwise this is a very good read.A friend asked me the question that ...
Plinius SA-100 vs. Rowland Model 2
I would just say that while the money is still in your pocket, you should listen to a tube amp that is capable of driving these speakers like the Wolcott. I have not heard the Rowland Model 2. I have heard the SA-100 and I have heard the Extremas,...
Placette anyone have any opinions?
If you do not need your preamp to add or mask some character, I don't think you could do any better than the buffered version of the Placette. I have not found either a SS or tube preamp to better it despite trying everything I could get my hands ...
Attention Scientists, Engineers and Na-s
Stevemj - your claim that power cords cannot make a difference strikes me as exposing the fact you have not tried listening for yourself with an open mind. There will be many here that have tried power cables (on decent systems and on suitable mus...
Speaker wire is it science or psychology
Thanks Detlof, and your post means a lot to me. Being not in control of my passion I often feel a bit of regret when it lets loose and I am left hoping people recognise it for what it is and tolerate it. This is not me feigning humility, just expl...
Any comments from users of Triphasors?
Pugstub, for a more ridiculous answer, just wait. The "scientist mafia" will find your thread and then you will wish you never asked. By the way Cornfedboy, I like your work.
Attention Scientists, Engineers and Na-s
A true scientist would retain an open mind as has been pointed out here. But the scientific method can become a trap, or at least a constraint on what might be achieved.. History has taught scientists that failing to rigorously prove new theories ...
Speaker wire is it science or psychology
Now that we are into apologies - I wish to thank the kind words of my supporters here and apologise for my perhaps over-passionate response to what I felt was an unwarranted attack from Jostler. I keep getting suckered into these debates whenever ...
Speaker wire is it science or psychology
On your final point, I think it is the right of any poster to figure out their strategy for discerning which recommendations to take notice of. I think I have explained why I would not rely on a "scientific" explanation as the basis that I use, bu...
New power cords for M/L Aerius
I did try the ferrite clamp idea, but it was not as significant as the PC treatment by a long way - but potentially beneficial. With the purple XLO I found there was no meaningful advantage to the clamps.
Speaker wire is it science or psychology
Jostler - the issue for me is that 20 years of experimentation in this hobby tells me the reliance on measurement such as Stevemj suggests above is just ludicrous. I am not saying you should just accept what I say, and only wish to put my view for...
Capacitance: Help me understand
Rzado - how do you come to the conclusion that the Wireworld are low capacitance? Here we have two "shield-type" braids separated by a very thin layer of teflon. Large surface, very close together - am I missing something?
New power cords for M/L Aerius
I needed quite long cords for my Logans and so did not want to get carried away with cost. I could get hold of two long pairs of XLO PC, one pair being the black cheap one, and the other being the purple expensive one - can you tell I am not good ...
Shahinian Speakers
Hi Mister_g. The people I know that love their Shahinians listen almost exclusively to orchestral music - where they do indeed shine, and where I do not disagree with you. How do you find them on say Jazz or solo vocal music?

Adamanteus - because we export a lot of meat and we are one of a diminishing number of countries that have healthy livestock, we are doing just fine right now - thanks for asking. But in the longer term it is difficult to see how a tiny isolated c...
