110 volt to 220 volt - can i use my 15 amp power c
I haven't heard a convertor that doesn't degrade the sound. Many components can be readily changed between 110 and 220V. Have a look inside the box, sometimes it is simply about throwing a switch. If not, check to see if the primary side of the po...
Change the plugs or use a converter ?
Agree with John. Also VH Audio has extremely good plug adaptors that I find work very well. I don't change the plug on power chords anymore because you have to put the American plugs back on to sell them. If you don't like the idea of changing the...
Anti-cables alternatives
There are several cables that use magnet wire - but most use long crystal high purity copper of course. Having them waving in the breeze rather that put alongside bad stuff like Teflon is a very good idea if you ask me, and have been able to verif...
ExactAudioCopy ripping software
And remember to copy flac.exe into your Windows folder or elsewhere in your Path or playback might not work.
Speltz anti-ic's vs Nordost QuattroFil
Wish I knew about the Speltz, but you certainly get speed, attack, refinement, soundstage etc with the Quattro Fil, no doubt about that. The key problem I have with it is it strips some of the warmth of the real thing away and in my systems made m...
Are the Beatles the reason why modern music exists
Rather than disagree that they were the most influential, I would tip that on its head and say the Beatles were one of the most influenced bands. Where the Beatles made a big contribution was that they channelled those influences into music that a...
what is the difference between good and bad music
Blue isn't better, green is!
NuForce Reference 8 vs. 9
Probably according to Nuforce. I am not familiar with the Gallo's but the Nuforce guys are very explicit in their literature about not connecting their amos in ways that sum the earths or both earth ans signal and I guess that is what hartneed is ...
Rowland "house sound"?
I owned the Rowlands and used them daily for a couple of years, so I would say they were broken in. I can agree with Kiethr's words too. If you find the Ref9.02s a bit sterile then try the Ref8.02. Provided they have the right set of mods these co...
10a 250v power cord in us
No problems. The problem arises the other way where some US cords are only spedified at 300V or so, which is too dangerous to use on 230V - you need something rated at 500V minimum for 230V operation. The biggest concern is voltage migration.
Best power cords in the $250-$400 range?
I second the VH Audio recommendation. Low noise floor without coloring the sound, softening transients or constraining dynamics. Better cords can make the VH Audio sound a little coarse and can resolve more subtle detail, but I don't know of any i...
Rowland "house sound"?
Just shows how important synergy is. I had Rowland 201s and have found the Nuforce amps to be better with my Verity speakers. The Rowlands sounded a bit congested and lacking coherence and the Nuforce opened things up to sound more natural. I gues...
wave a magic wand and poof...the stereo disappears
Then perhaps our subjectively based attempts to objectively assess and compare audio systems just aren't good enough to tell us much about which will produce better MUSIC. In the end enjoying the music has to be the only relevant outcome we are tr...
Nuforce
LOL - there is no copyright on the moniker.I was referring just to vibration control, and I tend to agree with you, manufacturers should not incorporate bladders, special spongey feet etc. That would be a nuisance. When I typed that I had in mind ...
Nuforce
My thoughts are very close to yours Stehno. To add to them.IMO the peak performance limit of a system is usually defined by the quality of the AC power available.IMO noone knows what components can really sound like till they have heard them witho...
