Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously?
Dear Banquo, You could perform the work yourself. Watch a Youtube on desoldering and resolding. You will get great satisfaction doing it yourself. I fine-tip soldering iron only costs about $20 and desoldering braid about $5.
SL1200 upgrade tonearm or replace cartridge?
Hi Nick,Have you tried a Trans-fi Terminator T3 tonearm? I have seen a number of them used on Technics 1200 (check youtube and Vic's customer corner). See Dave Garretson's detailed review on AudioAsylum.
Most important vinyl component to upgrade first ?
If the table doesn't spin at the correct speed and induces rumble in the playback, do you really want to hear that reproduced precisely while you wait to upgrade the other pieces? On the other hand, if you build a solid foundation on a good turntab...
Can a $3K table be among the best out there?
I just completed a Lenco rebuild. It outperforms my Rega P3, and VPI TNT (it had a Teres Verus rim-drive). With a little searching you can find a used Artisan Fidelity rebuild or a Jean Nantais in your price range. It is remarkable how good a prop...

has anyone had any problems w/ Jasmine phono LP2.0
Nandric, You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make him drink it.For those interested in reviews of various capacitors and their sonic characteristics, try Humble Hifi Capacitor Tests. Below is the link.http://www.humblehomemadehifi.com/Ca...
???Phono Preamp for Rega RP3 W/Elys2 ????

has anyone had any problems w/ Jasmine phono LP2.0
Nandric, Are you suggesting that changing the output capacitors will NOT improve the performance of the Jasmine? If you have not heard the modified Jasmine (with upgraded output capacitors), you are not in a position to comment for or against.
has anyone had any problems w/ Jasmine phono LP2.0
Antnee, While you are having the FETS replaced, upgrade the output capacitors to Jantzen Superior z-caps. They are a big sound improvement on an already excellent phono. The caps are inexpensive $25 for a pair of 1UF from Parts Express.
What do you use to polish wood plinth?
Do not use steel wool with water-based finishes. The fine metal dust (even after using a tack cloth) will oxidize.

I have had my Jasmine for a number of years with no issues. Nor have I read of others experiencing problems. The circuitry in the unit is quite simple and solidly constructed.Like Nandric implies, I wonder if you have an issue elsewhere in your sy...

Spirit, Have you tested the Salvation TT speed stability with Timeline?I agree with SYSKOS, that Timeline results of members' various TTs would be a very useful grade scale (pass or fail).

Jasmine vs Musical Surroundings Nova Phono Pre-Amp
Hi Nandric,I used Jantzen Superior Z-caps 1 uf (about $12 each through Parts Express). With regard to accessing the components, you need to de-solder the power supply connection and the ground. Once that is completed, access and capacitor substitu...
