Upgrades or a different table?
If you listen to classical music, speed stability and striking 33.3 rmp is most important. Look to the classic Japanese DD of the late 70s 80s. If you can afford new prices, look at Brinkman. When using older TTs with rubber mats, replace them with...
Turntable Swamp. . .what to buy?
Unipivots require a little more patience when setting up. However, the simplicity in design pays off (one point of contact versus multiple for gimbaled arms).I have used Hadcock, Mayware, and VPI JMW unipivot arms. All 3 have reproduced music exce...
New cart for under 1K
David, Do research the DL-S1 on Audio Asylum, as well as here. This is a very fine cartridge: True sound reproduction that gets the fine texture of instruments, and vocals. I listen primarily to classical music which is much more demanding of a TT...
New cart for under 1K
I recommend a Denon DL-S1 (Under $600 from Comet Supply or $800 from Galen Carol). I use it with a VPI 12.5 JMW and I have Focal Utopia Orca-Designed speakers. My hearing is very sensitive to high frequency sibilance.Sibilance can come from variou...
phono stage with two inputs
The new Jasmine LP 2.5DU has 2 inputs and handles MM and MC. I have one of their earlier models and it is stellar at reproducing music. You can purchase through Ebay or Amazon for around $500plus.Do a little research on the web for others reviews....
Turntable with stable speed.
I should have added Denon DDs and spelled it "cachet" rather than cache. I would like to hear a Technics 1200. I understand they are an excellent TT.
Turntable with stable speed.
No_regrets, Don't overlook locking into to pure 33.3. If you listen to classical music, and music with acoustic instruments played with complementing harmonies, any slight deviation from 33.3 will corrupt the listening experience.I doubt that a TT...
Want to try vinyl - What equipment do I need?
When auditioning new TTs pay keen attention to pitch. From my experience and having read others reviews, it gets overlooked. Often, the impact of the music, detecting fine sonic nuances, quiet background outweigh pitch (or change in pitch) on init...
new cart 600.00 and under
I currently use a Denon DL-S1 on Lenco L75 with a VPI JMW 12.5 with great results. Previously, I had it mounted on a VPI TNT with the same arm.The cartridge is an excellent tracker and reproduces the entire range of sound very accurately. Voices a...
tonearm + cartridge for custom lenco 75
Here is a Hadcock on Ebay in England. http://www.ebay.com/itm/TONEARM-HADCOCK-MADE-IN-ENGLAND-RARE-/300880592616?pt=UK_AudioTVElectronics_HomeAudioHiFi_Turntables&hash=item460de17ee8
To ring or not to ring?
You can also try the periphery rings sold on Ebay for around $240 shipped. They are machined from stainless steel like the VPI. I would have taken this route if I had been aware before I purchased my more expensive aftermarket one.I have used an a...
tonearm + cartridge for custom lenco 75
Avico, Also, I have a VPI 12.5 and a Denon Dl S1 on my Lenco rebuild. The Denon can be purchased from Comet Supply for a little under $600. I used to have find numerous inadequacies of my various components. However, with this cartridge, I don't l...
tonearm + cartridge for custom lenco 75
Hi Avico,It is a little bit above your range. However, you might take a look at the Trans-fi Terminator T3Pro. I have not heard it. Though some very respected members here on AG and Lenco Heaven regard very highly. Also, check Transfi's site for g...
Has Jasmine come out with a new phono stage?
Hi Nandric, Let me know what you think of the Jantzen Silver. 20 EUR/cap is not too expensive when purchasing only 2.
Has Jasmine come out with a new phono stage?
Why not acquire Jantzen Superior Z-caps (Silver & Gold are options)? These are tested and proven high quality? Check Humble Hifi Cap Tests. Also, Focal uses these capacitors in their Utopia speakers. They are a European brand and likely, easy ...
