I'm looking for thoughts on the Tyler Acoustics...
I can not comment on your specific model (Linbrook?), but I will say that I heard Tyler Acoustic speakers at a friends house and they are great! Huge soundstage, almost like a Magnaplaner type sound but more dynamic. He only runs mid price ($1000-...
Best Upgrade you had?
Bass Traps!
Platter mat ?
I have tried several mats and did not care for any of them. Tweaks, as a general rule, are a real interesting phenomenon. I usually hear differences for sure, but SYNERGY in the system and components is really the key to the best sound I believe.R.
Rega Planet 2000 and Linn Majik
I used to own a Majik and Rega Planet 2000. Both were good for the price point. You should be able to get either one for about $400-$450 range used I would think??? Also consider a Jolida JD100 for Cdp. I like it better than then the Rega. And it ...
Cartridge/Phono Preamp/Compatibility
I have tried many combinations with my Well Tempered and have found the low output cartridges to sound excellent with a high output phono stage. I use an EAR 834p which has enough gain to work great with my passive preamp and even less efficient s...
Best Pre-amp for the McCormack DNA-1 Deluxe
I run a hot rodded passive with my DNA 1. There are many good passives on the market, just depends on your budget and tastes. Mine uses the top of the line TKD stepped attenuator. Steve McCormack himself builds passive and active pre's.I use EAR 8...
I need a bit more midbase from my cdp
Are you using bass traps in your room? You will be amazed at how much more bass and larger soundstage etc is produced when you properly treat your room acoustically.R.
Trying a turntable-it sounds crappy, what's up??
In my opinion, it takes about $2000 for turntable, cartridge, and phono stage combined for a minimum dollar investment to get decent sound. You may find something used for less though? One can certainly spend much more for sure and get much better...
best cartridge for MMF-7, stock tonearm,below1000
I also would be cautious about spending more than $250 for a cartridge on a MMF7. I have never heard much praise for that arm or table.
Soundstage and voices lean to the left side????
It seems to just be some recordings. Others sound just fine. So I assume it is the recording. I do not have a balance knob on my setup, so I guess I will just have to live with it.Thanks for all the thoughts!R.
Phono preamp comparison
Try the Gram Slee 2SE for around $200 used. Or a used McCormack phono drive would be even better for a little more money. I had both of these in the past, and for the money was extremely happy.
RRL Cleaner, Vinyl Zyme, and Groove Glide
Lugnut,I did find a bunch of gunk on the stylus. I'll take your advice and use alot less.Does the "Grasshopper" refer to Kung Fu when he came to the Buda priest for insight and wisdom??? I love it!!!! As Audiophiles, we need a little God or Budda ...
RRL Cleaner, Vinyl Zyme, and Groove Glide
I should add that these improvements comes at the expense of some immediacy. Some of my LP's sound a little less "live" and more like great recordings. Difinitely a plus for some LP's, and it cleans back off with Super Cleaner and Regular Wash, bu...
Preamp and IC to match McCormack DNA .5.
I use the Jolida cd player also. Mine is hot rodded by Parts Connection and uses 5751 triple black mica NOS tubes.I also run McCormack DNA1.I use a hot rodded passive preamp. Very uncolored and transparent.I use mixture of Tara and Straightwire in...
tara labs time and space.....
Yes, it is great stuff! I have auditioned many of the other "newer" competing brands (both interconnects and speaker wire) and also Tara's newer Air series. The main difference is in the sense of presentation. Most of the new cables and Tara's own...
