Snell E/III vs. Snell Type D loudspeakers
Both the fuse and level control were bypassed. Not satisfied with this MUCH more natural and transparent sound. I played around with the power resistor pad glued to the back of the crossover plate. They use a 4ohm followed by a 2ohm at the x-over ...
cleaning vinyl. which cleaning fluid to use.
I have only used Torumat. Never felt that I needed to try something else. Given the raves of RR- I will order to replace my now empty bottle. I think that Torumat though is well worth a try.
Anybody heard a LECTOR CDP-7t ?
I heard the lector 5 at the HE in NYC. Very open sounding and three dimensional. Bass however sounded quite tubby and full. Highs and mids are incredibly detailed for cd playback. Very unusual to hear extended highs out of cd.
Snell E/III vs. Snell Type D loudspeakers
I have recently aquired a mint pair of CV. They obviously were rarely if ever played. At first the bass was incredibly boomy and ill defined. Now the bass is somewhat shy in my room after 'breakin'. I have done the following. The tweeter level con...
Comments please: ARC LS 25 mk 2 vs. Ref 2 mk 1
Ref2 mk1 is know for its bloom.
Biwired Speakers - silver for high, copper for low
I prefer not to Bi-wire any speaker. Same results everytime to my ears. Smaller soundstage, loss of coherence and bass definition. I open up the terminal plate and connect internally to 1 set of posts. Side benefit is the larger selection of wires...
Anybody heard a LECTOR CDP-7t ?

The CAT unfortunately will not address to problem with the 861- IMO. Perhaps a Jadis or maybe a Cary.
Why so little discussion about Snell ?
I recently purchased a pair of Snell CV here on A-gon. After making some very minor factory approved x-over modification. I must say, I am very impressed with the musicality/neutrality of this speaker. The company is also very accesible and helpfu...

Bomb- You stated "my 861". I though you unloaded that boat anchor. Trust your ears. I wanted to reply to your follow-up. But Fbhifi has said it all. Hopefully Mr. VMPS will see the light.
Can ASL Hurricanes drive Legacy Focus 20/20?
I would NOT use any Legacy speaker with a tube amp if you are going to turn it up and rock hard.Clip city.

Are Magnepan MG-IIIa speakers problematic?
It is an absolute must for every audiophile to experience living with a pair of Maggies.

Use 2 sided carpet tape to adhere a round washer around the center hole. Both sides if needed.
Is there a worthy 6922 presently made?
I tried the EH -6922 and actually prefer the previous generation Sovtek. The EH did sound warmer to my ears, bass was fuller. But it presented even less dynamics than the standard version. And neither one has the life of the Amperex Orange Globe o...
