How do you increase buffer size? well, that's good, happy listening.
How do you increase buffer size? As I understand it, the buffer is the amount of memory a software player reserves to stream music into RAM, then into the USB converter. For you this would be a setting in iTunes or Pure Music. I'm a PC using JPLAY, and the current beta has differ...
Are you still playing CDs after, comp based syst? Mitch/Larry, this is why I decided to go with a PC audio setup, instead of buying a really nice CDP. I was at a crossroads, had bought a cheapo changer, and I knew I wasn't a single-disc guy, so after much hand wringing I went PC audio and never r...
Are you still playing CDs after, comp based syst? I just buy used or new CDs and rip them. I basically open the CD case once, pop it into my laptop to rip it to my external hard drive, and practically never open that case again, unless I want to re-rip it into another format for some weird reason...
help with setting up new system You need a receiver to stream netflix, recommend onkyo, it plays nice with itunes audio formats. An apple tv is netflix compatible, and you can use air tunes and the free apple remote on an ipad or iphone to control and play music and /or movies/t...

Macbook vs Squeezebox 3 If you are using a stock usb cable, i can heartily recommend the pangea pc usb cable from audio advisor. It's $35 for a 1.5 meter length and the difference between this and a regular usb is very noticeable, i have the same dac, and i auditioned th...
Macbook vs Squeezebox 3 The converter is where the clocks are, so it is very important. Be sure to use the Vlink 192, not the Vlink in the black box or the Vlink MkII. The Vlink 192 has better clocks than the previous Vlink versions, and audio advisor has them on for $19...
Are you still playing CDs after, comp based syst? If my listening sessions were short, I probably would have bought a very nice CDP. But I work from home sometimes, and that happens in my listening room, and it gets really old constantly getting up and swapping discs throughout the day.. Not to m...
What is my weak est link...? Suggestions please. If you think your current speakers lack low end, you will get more satisfaction out of a speaker upgrade than an pre-amp or amplifier upgrade, but B&W 801s have a demanding impedance curve, make sure the Adcom amp is rated into 4 ohms and beyo...
How many switches do you have to flip the play a CD? preamp - 1, amp - 2, DAC - 3, CDP - 4, then 3 button-presses on the CDP itself - open, close, play. It's even more of an effort to get my PC audio setup going. Have to get the laptop out and plug in 5 cables, then hit power button, then get the sof...
Are you still playing CDs after, comp based syst? i've spent so much on my PC audio front end (and still not done), it far surpasses my Denon changer in SQ. i have no desire to pull a disc and mess with the button pushing and CD handling. I'd rather just stay seated, grab the iPad and start playi...
Are all fuses created equal? I'm not an electrical engineer, the are much smarter people on this forum than I, but it seems to me that replacing a slo-blow with a fast blo fuse presents less of a risk than vice versa. The fast blo fuse should fail faster than a slo-blo, which...
