Newbie Help Please... Go with the Wadia dock, they were the first to bring the digital iPod dock to the market and their product looks the best...! There are usually a few on A'gon for sale.
Options for unit that can stream music to USB DAC Apple TV comes to mind, but won't output via USB, you'd have to use optical.Just a wild hair, has anyone used something like this:http://www.usbfever.com/index_eproduct_view.php?products_id=297

PS Audio Digital Link III - USB Input Worthless? use a USB/SPDIF converter. I own the DLIII and its optical and digital coax inputs do better than the USB, when connecting the USB directly to a computer. I use a V-link in my USB signal path, which brought the sound quality up. I now feel the sou...
Newbie Help Please... Lots of people on this site love the XDA-1, and general consensus is that this DAC is a great value. I heard one at RMAF and I was pleasantly surprised, but I don't know if they were running the signal into the USB connection or not, I suspect not...
Newbie Help Please... PC-to-DAC advantages: you have access to your entire library at one time, not just what's on your iPod. You can save some money not having to buy a digital iPod dock. Setup might be a bit more complicated, but if you are a computer oriented guy, a...
USB to SPDIF interfaces - how to evaluate? Yes Extravaganza, I am looking at speakers with soft dome tweets. These BX5s were intended to be temporary, and will be relegated to 2nd system in the bedroom eventually. I was coming from B&W 685s, and noticed a distinct change in the mids. A...
USB to SPDIF interfaces - how to evaluate? I just came across this thread, interesting no one has commented yet. In general, I have found in my research the following things:try to use a converter that utilizes two clocks, one for each "family" of sampling frequencies, 44.1kHz and 48kHz. T...
PS Audio Digital Link III - Best Connection to MBP I have the PS Audio DL III and I do not recommend using the USB input without placing a USB/SPDIF reclocker in the path before the DAC. The DL III's USB implementation does not produce very good SQ compared to the toslink/coax inputs. The differen...
audiophilleo 2 I'm half ready to just buy the Audiophilleo A2, the Anedio U2 and the Stello U3 and do my own shoot out, then return the 2 that didn't pass the test. The specs on all 3 of these are very similar. Not sure if anyone here knows what the differences ...
-3db limits for dummies I don't know the exact scientific answer, Almarg can maybe speak to this, but I think that the +/-3dB is a range within which a speaker's frequency response is tested. I have also seen a +/-6dB range, on the specs for the Quad 22L2, and have read ...
Good optical cable Agree with Meiwan, I bought a Silflex, it arrived sheathed in a stainless steel flexible coating to prevent crush and/or bend damage. Haven't seen that in any other optical cable.
fiber optic/toslink cable recommendation Length is not as important a criteria as number and severity of bends in the glass cable. If you have 3 or 4 90 degree turns that have to be sharp because of tight space requirements, that will be a more limiting factor. Try to limit this.
fiber optic/toslink cable recommendation Lifatec glass fiber cables are also recommended on this site regularly. The one I bought has a flexible stainless steel jacket foot protection, and I'm quite happy with it.
Stereo preamp upgrade supposed to have a really good USB implementation, uses separate crystal oscillators for 44.1 and 48 kHz signals and their multiples, which avoids the creation of jitter in upconverting the 44.1 kHz signals, but reviews have stated that it sounds ... |
