Reference quality line stage?
Sean, the 24K input impedance is OK as won't drop much, if any gain, there......Sounds like the amp only had 20db of gain instead of 28.3db which has become a standard of sorts.......Running balanced into 100k amp impedance with 28.3db of gain fro...
Reference quality line stage?
Sean, the CTC Blowtorch has 8db of gain single ended and 14db balanced. This has ALWAYS been enough gain in stock configuration so don't know where you are getting your information.....It is easy enough to allow more gain if the customer needs it ...
IO Signature/Steelhead/Arc Reference/ and Colibrì?
I've heard the Colibri on a Rockport System III through an updated Vendetta and it just about cracked the slab compared to the tube unit the customer had been using......These aren't easy to find used and my partner takes his time with the updates...
Scratchy/Noisy volume knob on Audio Refinement Amp
Contact the manufacturer and schedule the unit for a volume pot replacement......Should be covered under warranty.......

Stew3859 you might give the TG Audio cords a try as they are flexible.......Thta is a nice DAC and would work well with the SLVR cord......Oh, I own TG Audio BTW, but saw your plight......Contact me for a dealer close to you.....
How dose your plinth sound?
My sport model Rockport uses two 1" pieces of black plexiglas separated by 1/8" of EAR material and has 1/2" of aluminum on the bottom of the sandwich.....The whole mess is screwed together and floats on active air isolaters.......This is very dea...
The importance of azimuth
Never been all that crazy about the Helikon, the Aries/JMW arm or the Quattro-fil myself and think you need to wake up your vinyl system a bit as that combination will put you to sleep and no amount of adjustment is going to help the PRAT, where t...

The importance of azimuth
4yanx, You will never notice it is off perpendicular and these things are handmade so expect them all to be a bit different.....Lyra uses the body as part of the alignment jig so they are all pretty darned close to correct FWIW.....
The importance of azimuth
Jphii, you are darned right it is worth the money and it would be worth $5-700 today I imagine.....To do this by ear is rough as lots of folks just can't listen to the venue information (they listen to the melody) and get it the same on each side ...
The importance of azimuth
As I recall the Audioquest box was actually a phono stage as needed to plug a transformer into it for moving coil cartridges. It had a switch for L and R channels and the meter would read the crosstalk.....You use the 1K test tone played on a the ...
The importance of azimuth
Azimuth is the most important adjustment in a tonearm and best set with a test record and scope......Set it for the same crosstalk per side.....Azimuth must be correct or VTA can never be ascertained.....Recall Dave Shreve spending about three hou...
New Lamm M1.2 vs. M1.1
All amps I am aware of take about two months to settle down and stop being a moving target. AC, the signal, takes about thirty days to settle down and the DC portion of the amp takes a minimum of 45-60 days to settle down. At sixty days you will f...
New Lamm M1.2 vs. M1.1
Bob, the JC-1s take lots of break-in so put some old tubes in your preamp and let it play 24/7 for thirty days and the thin sound will disappear and it slams into focus at about two months 24/7 of music.....The WP7 to my ears is the best WP since ...
Transports under $1K
Brook1, the Entec Number Cruncher was made in 1994/95 and the G&D was made until about 1998 as I recall..........Both are long gone and probably 75 of each made is all.......Demian Martin went to work for Monster and sold the name Number Crunc...
