what happened to power cord review
Psychanimal, Norm Luttbeg loves the Absolute power cords as well and know his big thing in listening is leading edge and imagine this is your bias as well as the cords sure are not special here at all being bettered by the "Wonderful" cord from Pa...
Where to buy copper slug for Hydra?
Shunyata has a new fuse that they ssy sounds better than the one used originally on the early units and I would go with that........Oh, Mothra Research makes a slug, but it is a bit larger than will probably fit the unit, but see the following:htt...
Audio Recession
I don't see any signs of an audio recession whatsoever and sales have been very strong all year with the exception of September......We have sold fewer 10-20K preamps than expected, but think that is on account of the stock market the previous yea...
not a charming day with snakes
Cornfedboy, I heard flaws in the Hydra that you and Albert heard, but nothing is perfect....Upper midrange is down just a touch and there is a glitch way up top, a coldness as it were that bothered me, but not nearly like the ferrite bead tricks l...
not a charming day with snakes
The Hydra doesn't travel well and the fully cooked unit (it was the Soundstage! review sample) sounded just about the way you described it and took about five days to settle down from it's journey to me.....It was really dark sounding the first co...
vmps, art d/io, & boldercables.com
My tastes in music are a bit unusual as I like live recordings made in small venues in front of an audience and most of what I hear at shows bears no relationship to the club experience whatsoever......Other than just the bass in the VMPS room I d...

I wasn't kidding as we really don't want to build many of the preamps as they are a real pain to build.....Parasound wants to hire CTC to do a preamp and we'll do the best we can, but it will need to be easy to build and probably need to be remote...

Sedond, no offense taken whatsoever as we built the preamp to see how far we could take it and never expected to do much more than build a few units and have something for reference use the rest of the CTC partner's lives.....Just finishing up the...

Joe B and Sedond, it costs like Hell to build something right and we really don't want to build very many of the preamps anyway...I thought it was necessary to point this out as that was not a cheap system as the preamp cost more than the rest of ...

VMPS used the Art D/IO into the 18K CTC Blowtorch full function preamp at the CES which nobody seems to have picked up on......Bob CrumpCTC Builders

Make that August 2000, not 2001.....
Directionality
August 2001 as I recall.....Nice of old Ben to measure what we have been hearing for years wasn't it? Ben has a website as I recall and imagine it is reprinted there, but haven't checked....Can't find the issue, but think it was titled something l...

Ben Duncan in HFNRR found bulk wire to be directional and presented his measurements and findings......
what is the best super speaker and why?
I'm with you Kirk930 as I prefer the JMs over the Avalons, but to each his own.....Best I have heard are the Rockports, but these are choices you need to make yourself....I've been running the Rockport Syzygy speakers with modified Entec L2f woofe...
Vibration platform for Basis Turntable ?
Take a look at www.machinadynamica.com and send Geoff Kait an email with the model of your table as think that the Nimbus is probably the best thing to use as long as the table doesn't weigh more than 35-40 pounds.......You might want to look into...
