Suspended vs. nonsuspended TT? Sayas, the Rega is a fine table as used one recently in Austin at the Texas Audio Society meeting with one of our preamps and wires.....Active air suspension is fine, but your TNT merely uses air springs with no correction. Think I would rather ha...
Gryphon amps. Gryphon does a great job with amplifiers using the best discrete parts out there, Toshiba/Sankens, with huge well thought out supplies and beautiful build quality....Have heard them at two shows with Rockport front end and speakers and they just d...
What about Bybee Filters? The Bybee filters do nice things for AC mains, such as allowing the digital gear to remain on when listening to analog if separated into separate circuits, digital and analog....I don't care for them on speakers or ICs as feel too much of the baby...
Best Power Cord Hdm, I have sold a few of the TG power cords, about 7,000 in the past 18 years :-).....I think Natalie's point is well taken though as that 20 year old recipe cord still beats up the bulk of the aftermarket cords out there....Conversely, one is al...
Speaker wire guage/current draw ? I run 16ga wire here from a 400w/130amp of current amplifier with no problems whatsoever to 89db efficient speakers.....Unless you are listening to test tones at levels that will melt your speakers 16ga is plenty for anything.....
Arsonists - Please help me with cable burning You can boil it in crawfish etouffee for a while or use some load resistors at levels that would set fire to your speakers for five days, but it will take 720 hours (30 days) for the wire to stop changing it's sound....Break-in takes a long time r...
Dedicated Circuit wire alternatives? Sean, you do have first hand experience with tin plated conductors in power cords....You also have a ton of first hand experience with tin plated copper conductors used on virtually every individual component as well as boards in your gear.....Tin...
Arsonists - Please help me with cable burning Well, pretty close.....Get two 225w 8 ohm load resistors from Allied for $25 and a 100wpc receiver from JR Music World for $135 or so, hook up the speaker wire, put on a rock & roll station turn it up and measure the voltage across the resisto...
Cars. What does the typical audiophile drive? Had a '70 Hemi Roadrunner and both a '90 G-60 Corrado and a '92 VW Corrado VR-6.....I always liked cheap, mean and easy cars, just like my ex-wives.....
Cars. What does the typical audiophile drive? 2002 VW GTI 337.....2002 VW GTI 337.....2002 VW GTI 337.....
What is the most decadent, most self indulgent-- First pressings of Something Else is not frivolous it is like coffee in the morning!
Dedicated Circuit wire alternatives? Sounds like you have a bad capacitor in your fridge or it is on the same phase as the stereo and it should be on the other phase.....Go with 10ga Romex and use all that inductance as a filter and run separate lines for digital and analog making su...

Can I start some trouble? For the most part you get what you pay for...The market takes care of those that are ripoffs in short order.....It is nonsense to think that component/cable voicing is a conspiracy.....We all do the best we can and some do it better than others......
Rowland 2 or Accuphase A50? I had a preamp customer who sold his ARC Ref 300 Mk IIs and bought the the Accuphase A50s which he used in mono and was very happy with them....Not familiar with the Rowland 2, but all his creations sound similar with little in common with the Acc... |
