Smoothest and best sounding turntable/cartridge combo up to $1600?? BTW, a Linn lp12 or We'll Tempered Record Player are also good choices if you must go with a new table. Some folks don't like the Linn basic plus arm, or its variants, but find them ok.I probably should have stated that your phono section and cartr...
Smoothest and best sounding turntable/cartridge combo up to $1600?? Thorens 145 and 160 variants are generally a pretty smooth sounding table. Depending on what you mean by restored will vary its performance level. If it is essentially stock then modding it would elevate it tremendously. A better plinth and tonea...
For all you McIntosh fans When I sold the 275, which was mint with two sets of tubes, it took me about a year to move and went for about 20% less than new. It was about 10 years old, so not a bad investment but you are not going to make money off them. The days of buying a ...
For all you McIntosh fans BTW, it is pretty much only their tube products hat have a great resale value. Not so much with their solid state or their speakers, which generally get panned.
For all you McIntosh fans It looked like they were pushing those amps into clipping. I had an MC275 for a while. The second re-issue version. The bass was flabby, although the midrange was nice and the high end was very good, too, At the time, I liked my Classe better.I li...
Would a Technics SL-1200 MK2 be an upgrade from a Denon DP-31L? The Sony psx 60 is the best, imo. Comparing the new 1200 to the old is not close. It is like comparing an old, watered down 4 cylinder, low horse powered Mustang to a new high horse power muscle car Mustang of today. Well, maybe not that bad.....b...
Does the ceiling fan affect the sound? Wind affects sound waves, which from my understanding is a scientific fact. So, it would seem reasonable to concur that the wind generated from your fan would too.also, the noise, as well as, current drain and motor noise may have an impact, too.
"Shouty" treble with hi res files The article you posted is the same article that gets continuously cycled around by flat earthers as proof that hi rez is voodoo. However, that article has been proven to be pure hogwash and written by someone who has an agenda. Research the Inter...
Basis 1400 TT... Audiomods and the Tecnoarm are the,way to go. I have both and they both sound very good. Is one better than the other? That's hard to say. Although the audiomods with the micrometer is a great added feature.
New Technics 1200 (After the initial run of 1200 have been sold, I don't see the main production run selling for too much less than 4K.)Actually, I seem to remember reading that the first run is considered a "special" run and limited. After this there is suppose to...
New Technics 1200 For $4000 I can think of many other tables I would go for before the new 1200, even though what lays under the hood is apparently a much different beast than the older run. It just doesn't float my boat. On the used market that $4000 will get you ...
Has anyone recently had any slow response with Sound-Smith repairs I sent mine in on January 28 and will be getting it back on Monday. This falls within the time frame allocated. Peter does the best work and it is worth waiting. He is the only one at soundsmith that does this work and due to family issues has del...
Grateful Dead: Mars Hotel LP recording Yes, Mars Hotel is the equivalent to Katy Lied, great music but a bit lacking in sound. It is flat sounding, and acking in frequency extremes. Too bad cause there's some good music on there. Unbroken Chain for one.
Dick's / Dave's picks This is better than Charlie's duplication.
Dick's / Dave's picks It is a WAV file. Keep trying, I'll check my mail. |
