Kenny wheelers "what now"
I bought "what now" and other titles of Wheeler's on Amazon (do a search). All good.I saw him live in a trio years ago with Peter Erskine (drums) and a bassist (Carpenter) and it was one of my all time favorite jazz sessions. I also saw Stanko liv...
Best Speaker Cable Terminations
It has been too long since I bought any. Part Connexion has a lot of good stuff like Cardas connectors (which are quite good...trust them, despite not being a big fan of their cables). It is harder to find good z-plugs. Analysis Plus cables like Ov...
Best Speaker Cable Terminations
You might want to re-think using 4 10-guage cables. Lots of copper for the low in a bi-wire is often great, and is recommended most of the time, but it can be bad for the mid/high. There is a reason most pros and cable companies in bi-wire rigs us...
Selling to someone in another country
Lots of reasons not to.PayPal fees are higher for international. Shipping is higher. Lots more paperwork. Usually the seller must fib (lie) about value of item so the buyer avoids duties, so cannot insure for full value, and the ethics of it all s...
Biamping Maggie 20.1s: Amps and Xover Frequencies
Yes, you will get more dynamics and openess by bi-amping, but musicality and the balancing act of the speaker often suffers (badly). I assume that you picked 20.1's over other speakers because you were willing to suffer some of their trade-offs/we...
TAD 150 sig vs Lector zoe vs Modwright SWL 9.0 SE
By your system you sound like you dont mind a little complexity and tinkering around. Picking the Lector (also sounds great stock) would allow you to try fifteen quadrillion different types of either new and/or NOS tubes (has a self-adjusting tube...
Preamp for Bryston 3BST / Magnepan MG1.6QR
I was looking into a Rogue 66 when I had the BP-25(newer verison and psupply, all balanced IC's) and a 4B-ST. I just did not get the comments I was looking for when asking sellers here (AG) how they liked the 66. At the price, the 99 seems pricey,...
Preamp for Bryston 3BST / Magnepan MG1.6QR
Your on the right track. You would be surprised at how good the current crop of tube pre sound; especially in comparison to the Bryston pre amps. You will have all the detail or more than the BP-20, plus you will get a 3-D soundstage and "warmth" ...
Bananas Vs Spades???
I have the same cables (length, brand, model), one pair factory terminated with WBT spades and the other pair with bare wire. There is no contest. Bare wire is superior.I also have factory terminated Kimber Select jumper cables with WBT bananas an...
Analysis Plus Interconnects
Thanks for the reply Oz.No question they are very dynamic and extended cables, so in that way they definately do not lack excitement.....the wide extention on top and bottom is pretty amazing.I have a hunch that my fear is the midrange too, so it ...
Analysis Plus Interconnects
Hi,I have the same question as Oz since I am trying out a 12 ft pair of Solo Crystal Oval 8 bi-wires to Magnepans. Very musical cables, good micro detail, smooth, dynamic, but is this "old folks wire":)?My main complaint is that they are way too p...
Review: Cardas Maggie Kit Speaker cable
Thanks for responding Dan.What I didn't understand was Rbirke's comment "took me about 40 minutes to undo those damn Maggie pins". The key word is "undo".I jumper-ed to the conclusion he meant the Cardas Maggie pins on the jumpers in the kit for s...
Review: Cardas Maggie Kit Speaker cable
Thanks for posting the info. They sounds like a great investment.Question. I am confused about the statement about the maggie pins? I thought the wires/jumpers were terminated with the Cardas maggie pins for ease of connection. Did you previously ...
Maggie 3.6R performance dilemma..
Hi Rooze,You are STIL not getting it!! You are still sitting so far away from them it makes me wonder. Rooze, with a sloped ceiling, how do you expect to use the Cardas forumla that requires a fixed ceiling heigth????? There are a lot of set-up po...
Where are your maggies??
Rooze, You need to shrink your room. If you can't do that physically, your screwed. That is a lot of air to pressurize, even for a massive cone speaker. Quite a few people use one of the various speaker set-ups shown on the Cardas cable web-site. ...
