Recommendation for cd/SACD player with this system
I am using a SONY SCD-C555ES in a 2 channel playback system and I am quite happy with it for both redbook and SACD playback. My associated equipment is a Musical Fidelity AC3 Integrated Amplifier; Acoustic Research 302 classic series speakers; and...
What did he say? Misunderstood lyrics.
The classic, which suposedly puzzled millions, was the opening song to the TV series, "All In the Family." The last bit of the song went ... "Didn't need a welfare state ... Everybody pulled their weight ... Gee our old La Salle great ... Those We...
Hearing aids on listening to analogue music.
My experience has been a little different, as I have become accustomed to hearing loss. I perforated each eardrum on several occasions over a 5 year period (commercial air flying while suffering from bad colds) and I have some permanent hearing lo...
Adcom Preamp...what is 'contour' button for?
Koa:I have the "I" version ... which did not have a sub out (they really weren't used much in 1989). Check Adcom's website as they have downloadable user manuals. Regards,Rich
Help please pre-tuner as a stand-alone tuner ???
Zaikesman: See your point. I was understanding the second question to be ... could I use the Adcom's remote control as a way to control the entire "on/off; volume; etc" functions of the system. I missed the part of the VCR sitting in between the A...

Help please pre-tuner as a stand-alone tuner ???
I have not tried this with my Adcom preamp/tuner ... but you should be able to connect the "tape out jack" on the Adcom to your integrated amplifier (I am doing this currently with a vintage Marantz receiver/NAD integrated amp). The tape out jack ...
AR LS15 pre anyone changed hardwired power cord?
Maxgain ... my apologies, but what does CPCC "High Value" cord stand for? Thanks, Rich
Question for Velvet Underground fans
Curbach: Leonard Cohen (and for that matter Jeff Buckley) pretty much whisper the lyrics of "Hallelujah" in an almost reverential tone, when compared to how John Cale's version exploits the power of the lyrics and adds a sense of drama and majesty...

is the Unico enough?
The Unico is probably enough. Without knowing how loud you like to listen to your music ... I am using a NAD C 320 BEE (50 wpc; $400 list) to drive a pair of Acoustic Research 302 speakers (85 db sensitivity; Ken Kantor/NHT design) in a slightly l...
Vienna's vs. Bose Lifestyle 35
Assuming that you are serious about all this ... you could replace the amp/dvd/cd player with an all-in-one box like the new NAD L70 dvd/cd surround receiver (it seems like the L70 is similar to the L75, which was not available in North America). ...

Recommendation for REALLY inexpensive receiver
Jaru:The Class A/B/C/D amplifier design discussion is not one to get too worked up about, when considering an HT receiver. Essentially the designation refers to how the amplifier is "designed and works." What intrigued me about digital amplifiers ...
Recommendation for REALLY inexpensive receiver
I owned the Denon 2801 and was not impressed with the sound in either HT or music. I felt that the ONKYO 434, that I had upgraded from, was superior for both HT and music. I would look at ONKYO's offering in the $500 range, which I believe is the ...
