Does anyone care to ask an amplifier designer a technical question? My door is open.
@mrdecibel  Roger, thank you for the response. I have to disagree with you as to warm up time of a component ( which is relative to break in time ). For me, 5-10 minutes is never enough. " Don't sound bad when they come up slowly ". For me it tak...
Does anyone care to ask an amplifier designer a technical question? My door is open.
@djones  I have never owned a tube amp , always used SS and this doesn't come up if it's rated for 8 and 4 Ohm. I have what is I am sure a novice question. My speakers are 6 Ohm and I notice most tube amps have 4 Ohm or 8 Ohm taps and sometimes ...

@frogman An extremely generous offer. Thank you. What is it, from a technical standpoint, that allows good tube amplification to reproduce micro dynamics in a way that is much closer to what I hear in live music? I refer to the ability to reproduce...

@mrdecibel I will be the first. I never owned an amp of yours. I have owned other tube amps by several other manufacturers. I gave up on them, and this has been through a pair of modified and tweek’d pair of Klipsch Lascala. Why did I give up on ...
How does length affect power cable sound quality?
Or perhaps a tube amp for everything. Whoa! Did I just say that?! Of course tubes are great for many applications. When I was a child I built transistor amplifiers, but now as a man I must give up those childish ways. :) The first thing that s...
How does length affect power cable sound quality?
Wow, discussions here can get nasty in a hurry...Roger, I must say you asked for it... I stuck my neck out but it didn't get cut off yet. I wanted to correspond with people who are really into it and I found one.
How does length affect power cable sound quality?
Well, there are plenty of seconds in a minute. and sixty of those in an hour. With an average of 16 hours available a day. Being retired that is 365 days a year. And I have been playing around with power cords at least since 1998.. Twenty yea...
How does length affect power cable sound quality?
I use and enjoy 5 meter powercords, have several, and some 4 meter ones too. I also have the same brand 1 meter cords, 2 meter cords.. I DO move them around ,and have swapped longer shorter, fatter, thinner... Sometimes the sound changes a littl...
$10k Speaker Cables??????????????
I live with a PhD economist too, a Harvard PhD. They don’t seem to understand that there is no Law of Diminishing Returns in high end audio. You see, when you can potentially double the performance of an audio system just by reversing the fuse o...
power cord affects on video?
Yea, 6 feet of wire making a difference must be a wonderful thing to behold.
power cord affects on video?
meh? You obviously have not idea the 1000s of components and 100s of feet of wire that sit betweeen the power inlet and and the picture that excites your imagination. Try your imagination down the path from the power cord to the picture.
power cord affects on video?
considering all the electronics that follows the power cord in a TV its hard to imagine this level of imagination.
$10k Speaker Cables??????????????
sj008845 posts11-17-2018 2:04pmi believe I used to swap Heatkit tweaks with Ramtubes  in the late 60s :). My man!http://www.pastcatalogs.com/#heath  Many Heathkit amps are yet to be discovered like the WM-2. Great williamson, spacious chassis.
My first Tube Amplifier
@bdp24 Thanks, it is true that the more expensive amplifiers were pushed harder. As Brooks once said to me. Why should I sell a $5000 amplifier when i can sell a $20,000 one. You only get to sell one!I never wanted to make expensive amplifiers, ju...
$10k Speaker Cables??????????????
Where does this madness end??It simply ends when people stop buying these. A person may have a $3000 amp connected to $10,000 cables if its cables that excite him. Rather than get better speakers, better amps, or God forbid, do something that re...
