What the heck is this? I have a copy of the original Denon test record. Much of it needs to be used with calibrated instruments. The manual is intense. There are other records, Hi Fi News and Review for one, which are more user friendly. I got mine for a buck before Ste...

resource for cdr questions Craig, Almost all of the new 80 minutes CDR's are of the gold variety, Imations, Memorex, ect. It appears that most of the ones made in Taiwan from Ritek and CMC are gold. However, according to cdmediaworld they are not the most stable. It appears...
Rega or Sony from a "digital dope" In my system the Rega does not sound dull and my amp, pre-amp and speakers are not products that need to be smoothed out. Classe' CA101, Classe' 5 MK II, highly modified Magnapan MG II's, Audio Truth Sterling and Lapis. If anything this system is,...
does linking two cables degrade sound? Anything added to the chain will have an effect, albeit great or small. It up to you to decide its value.

Rega or Sony from a "digital dope" I bought a used Rega and I enjoy it very much. Prior I ran an Magnavox CD630 into a Meridian 563. I like the Rega better. At the used price you can't go wrong. Pick it up. If you don't like it it will be easy to sell. BTW, the Rega will play CDR's...
How much does your system retail for? Man, I forgot my subwoofer, speaker cables and CD player. That brings the totals to $21,735 and $8,845, respectively.
How much does your system retail for? $18,335 for 2 channel. I paid $8,295. However, I own two Dat decks and a CDR recorder. If you include 2 mic's and a mic pre-amp it would add $2,200 and $1,400 respectively. But then aagin more cables, blah, blah , blah.
Best blank CDRs There is no way to make any across the board recommendations that have any lasting power. There are around 12 manufacturers of CDR's and none of them sell direct, as far as I am aware. All of the brands available today come from one of these manuf...
New Stereophile recommended list My issue here is this, which I will repeat, and please give me a rational, "how, after 20+ years of using a grading system, going from A to whatever, be changed?" IF "A" IS A MEASURE OF THE STATE OF THE ART THEN THAT PRODUCT IS RATED AN A. IF ANOT...
New Stereophile recommended list Amen,Tube groover! There is absolutely no reason to, after 20 years, develop an A+ rating. Unless you are pandering to the manufacturers who don't want to see the "Almight" recommended list down grade their product to clss B-C-E or, god for bid, n...
Changing Amps?? Are you Sure?? Best thread in a long while. I think that the point of "Best of the Decade" is great! As a matter of fact, Audiogon, if you are listening, you should develop a data base which list products over the last ten years that have stood the test of time ... |
