"Phono" Cable - Necessary if you have RCA outs? Well,I usually make my own cables and have found that a lighter gage cable, 22 to 24, works well for my phono. The signal is lower in level than your normal line level and I believe that the higher gage is friendlier to the signal. That being said,...
Why No respect for Denon DL160 cartridge I used a 160 for 3 years, retipped it twice and finally sold it with my old TT when I upgraded. I found it to be a great budget cartridge. When combined with a daul 5000, "highly modified"1) Removed the power supply from the table and isolated it ...

CD burners: Marantz vs. HHB I have highly recommended the 830 in the past for those interested in DtoD. I have found the HHB's to best the Marantz's A-D, too. However, if you haven't purchased the CDR yet you should try Sony's CDRW-33 or 66. Each has SBM processing, which I ...

CD Recorders If you are recording D to D, I would suggest the HHB "Burn it". It is affordable and can be had for $450. It has Digital balance and volume control. If you are going A to D, I would suggest the Sony CDR 66, it has SBM and sells for sround $650. An...
Grado SR325 vs RS-1 My understanding is that the drivers are the same. The difference being the part that holds the ear cup is made of aluminum on the 1's, as opposed to plastic on the 2's. Also, the 1's come in a nice box. I maybe wrong and if so I stand corrected.M...
