Preamp choices:Short list Go with the BAT Preamp. I have a VK50-SE that I acquired last Summer. I love it ! I too prefer a Fully (and truly) Balanced Audio chain that a Single ended one. With XLR, you can hot swap cables without worrying about blowing things up. With RCA, ...
Anyone ditch the sub after large speaker purchase? I ditched my Subs after getting a pair of KEF 105/3’s. Using a miniDSP to replicate the original Bass EQ curve and boost points from a Magazine article from 30 years ago. I was shocked how deep the Bass went into the 30Hz region in my room with no...
Jolida Fusion 3502S vs. Jolida Fusion 801 Getting a Jolida Fusion 3502P Power Amplifier soon and while I’m not into Ch-Fi, it’s designed and assembled here in the U.S. but the boards are built overseas to my knowledge. How’s the build quality/reliability over time ? I know they are Black I...
Should I got full tubes or stick with hybrid amps? I am actually doing an all Tube System for the first time in my life. I've had Class A/B Transistor Amps (Adcom/McIntosh) and Class D (PS Audio). I've enjoyed them all but once I got into Electrostatic Headphones by way of a Stax SRM-007tA (eBay)...

The NAD M33 will cancel your complaints about Class D I was running PS Audio M700's (L,C,R) and a S300 (surrounds). I loved their sound. Had to trade them in for a BAT VK50-SE Preamp because my requirements changed. Also used the Orchard Audio STARKRIMSON Amps that had had even better sound than the ...
High end Class D amps? Class D for Bass is the Best. For Upper Bass/Midrange/Treble. I run Orchard Audio STARKRIMSON Amplifers for those sections and an ICE Power AS-1000 Class D Amp for the Bass Drivers (one inside each KEF 105/3 cabinet). All fed from a BAT VK-50SE. T...
Analog vs digital? I’m a Digital Man versus being an Analog Kid. But I’ve never had a Vinyl setup as resolving as yours. My Digital rig consists of a PS Audio DirectStream DAC fed into a BAT VK50-SE Preamp. It’s as close to Vinyl as I’ll ever get. I sold all my Viny...
Connecting a DAC directly to an amp? I used to run my PS Audio DirectStream directly into my PS Audio M700's and it worked great. I've since then traded in my Stellar Amplifiers for a Balance Audio Technology VK50-SE feeding two Orchard Audio STARKRIMSON Amplifiers and two ICE Power ...
Looking for a vinylesk sounding DAC 11-11-2020 8:26pmJust going on the many reviews other impressions I’ve read, if I were you I’d gravitate toward a tubed R2R NOS DAC such as the Audio Mirror Tubadour Mklll SE, etc. I believe several companies (AM, MHDT, Denafrips?) offer trial p...
Unbelievable 3-D imaging sound 11-10-2020 8:20pm I’m not your standard guy. If I tweak a particular instrument to what I like, or make a recording that I favor more, then I’m satisfied. It’s really all about me at this point. I’m usually the one listening to it most of the tim...
RIP Eddie Van Halen. What was your first stereo you rocked to VH on? 1982 Diver Down Cassette on my Candle "4 Speaker" "Ghetto Blaster".If you look at how many "hits" they had between both Sam & Dave (couldn't help myself there), it's quite the catalog. Never saw them live or Tom Petty (regret it now of course). |
