most beautiful (looking) speakers Audiovector R8 with Italian walnut burl and piano finish. I’ve only seen the photograph, but wow! They speak to me.
Best unplugged live Disclaimer #1: I have been a Neil Young fan since “After The Gold Rush” was imprinted onto my 14 year-old brain. Disclaimer #2, I have listened to perhaps a half dozen of the series. On Neil’s unplugged album, the pared down approach fit his music...
Whats on your turntable tonight? Thanks, @slaw. I do not buy many new releases on vinyl, but I have purchased, “I Have Nothing To Say To The Mayor Of LA”, by Dean Wareham. I like the Colter Wall but stream it. Cheers!
Whats on your turntable tonight? Kenny Burrell - God Bless The Child, an early / first CTI pressing. I bought it used: cover very worn but quiet vinyl. I had listened to very little of his recordings. It’s just beautiful. He really seemed to pluck those strings hard! I just love ...

Looking for a SS integrated Amplifier recommendation going into a new system Since I can recommend only what I have owned or heard, I have three. If money was no object, I would buy a used Vinnie Rossi L2i. The new Vinnie is coming out soon and is significantly more expensive. The Vinnie made every speaker connected to it ...
So I just bought a Hegel H390 and I have listened to this Hegel amp at my local dealers, playing through many different speakers, and they all sounded great. Note: his listening room was purpose built and treated. I have heard Qln, Dynaudio, Dalis and Wilsons, and they all sounded...
Integrated Amps - another thread... I had a Simaudio Ace all-in-one integrated amp that I liked very much. It had a nice phono stage in it that sounded very good to me. Yes, it has a DAC, something that you said you do not need. I have never heard the Modi 3 that you have, so I have...
Streamer Advice / Recommendation for Denafrips R2R DAC I also use an Innuos Zen Mini to stream. I use Roon as the software platform with the Roon Core residing in the Zen. I have about 1000 CDs burned onto the internal hard drive. This has been a pretty good solution for me, particularly at the price ...
Why Do So Many Audiophiles Reject Blind Testing Of Audio Components? I agree with @Erik_Squires sentiment:"Double blind studies are for product development, not for making a choice in buying." Does anyone believe that one cannot discern very large differences (e.g., orders of magnitude) in music reproduction? No. V...
WHAT IS THE MOST UNIQUE SONG THAT YOU HAVE EVER HEARD? I was about 14 and my brother brought home an Elton John album before any of his music was on the radio. I had never heard of him. “Where To Now St. Peter”i remember thinking, “Who is this British guy, and boy can he play the piano!” For that win...
Suggest one obsure album we all should hear Trio Live Oak- “Star Shining On The Mountain” This is early Spanish music. This is very calming and beautiful. The recording has a great sense of space as well.New York Rock Ensemble- “Fields Of Joy” I have loved this song since my older brother b...
I love sad music Thank you, @cal91. This is a great thread. Some of the grenade throwing on these forums can become wearying at times (most of the time), and then, reading the above, I am reminded yet again that the readers of these forums have an amazing collecti...
What sends shivers down your spine when you play it on your system? @nitewulf , thanks for the James Blake tip. I had never heard any of his music before. He gives a Jeff Buckley vibe with more soul. I like him.
What sends shivers down your spine when you play it on your system? Arvo Part: “Tabula Rasa: I. Ludus”. There is a portion towards the end where there is a cacophony of bells that sound like Shinto temple bells or something. I love the whole piece, but that is a very holy crap moment. |
