Ancient AR Turntable with NO anti skate I have never heard a worsening of sound by applying anti-skate and it seems to improve tracking and chanel balance as the arm gets closer to the spindle. FWIW, the AR deck (which was my first ever deck) did have antiskate - it was in the original ...
SME V problem I had the same problem with my V12 and had to send it back to SME for the proper fix - tightening the base clamp is not the solution as the problem is integral to the arm and cannot be fixed by the user.
Review of Kora Hermes DAC completely underrated DAC imho. Ive had mine for almost 8 years and it still outperforms anything Ive tried including some expensive latest and greatest gear. Best tubes so far have been Siemens followed by Mullards. Enjoy.....
Trans Fi Salvation direct rim drive turntable As Lewm notes I was the privileged buyer of his second L0-7D and frankly I can't understand why anyone would pay mega bucks for new turntables when you can buy for less $ great vintage decks (DD or idler) that spin discs just as good if not better...
Garrard 301-Worth the effort? Dover, you have to read between the lines sometimes and with tongue in the cheek - "ever" is actually factually and irrefutably true in my systems and in my personal experiences and cannot be denied in my universe - but there are parallel universe...
Trans Fi Salvation direct rim drive turntable Lewm, I struggle to say one is better than the other, but the TT-101 is a very fine deck in the heavy lead japanese plinth I have. The L0-7D is preferred by my friend who has heard them both several times (he likes a warm sound). Both are keepers ...
Trans Fi Salvation direct rim drive turntable Lewm, we have to be careful comparing the Reed 2A 12" red cedar with the Dynavector. I have both on the same TT-101 table and the Reed clearly is more dynamic in the higher frequencies and I get seduced into thinking it has a more open sound. Howe...
Garrard 301-Worth the effort? Completely neutral here with no axe to grind of any kind. I currently have an OMA Lenco, my own high mass wood plinth Lenco, a 301 by Dobbins, a 401 refurbed by Loricraft in an Artisan plinth, a Kenwood LO-7D, an SP_10 Mk2, a Victor TT 101 in a ja...
Accuphase C-27 phono preamp Dave, I suspect getting to audition one might be a challenge. A member here had a considerable discussion with me, bought the unit and is very happy. I can't commit that it will be synergistic with your system, but I can say that if you value low ...
Accuphase C-27 phono preamp Had mine for close to 3 years now. Sound wise it has a sublime character, not splashy, but very accurate and comes with a very precise soundstage. I have the Allnic 3000 and the Accuphase by comparison is a bit warmer, relaxed and smooth. Highly r...
Micro Seiki, or TW AC-1 OMG - so many opinions, all of which are well founded and respected. My 2 cents worth ........On the Micro tt's the SX-8000 tables with air bearing destroy the 5000 series. The ringing 5000 platters are real issue. The motor units are the same and...
Aesthetix IO Eclipse Had the IO Sig for a couple of years. I did find it noisy even with Jim's recdommended tubes. More important though is the perspective of the soundstage it throws. at first it sounds huge and it is. only when I switched to another phono stage did ...
Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously? the ebay link did not translate, search for acryteller as the seller. An outfit in Germany that sells a whole bunch of platters, mats, weights etc.
Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously? Audpulse, thanks for the rey to Audio Fidelity - they could be just the right guys to rewire the arm on the L07D I just acquired from Lewm!Couldn't find much info on the delrin mat on their website, I will have to look around for similar mats. On ...
Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously? Halcro,it is a great question -I also wonder about this. I used a heavy 5Kg Audiolife platter on my SP-10 for 6 months and guess what, it started to go wobbly and not hold a constant speed - it is now at my tech being repaired. I suspect the beari... |
