Synergistic Red Fuse ... Ok you guys, this thread has finally done it... Just ordered a pair of SR BLACK fuses for my pre and phonostage. I’ll have to pace myself as my Atma-Sphere MA-1 OTL Silver mono blocks take three fuses each (780 USD Ouch!). Next to IEC, the Output ...
Just how great is Elvis Costello bondmanp, with all due respect, not sure how to separate your musical affections from your politics? If I might, what could you mean by "separating the artist from his politics"? As there has always been more politics in art than in our governing ...
Vibration Control for Lightweight Tube Components Lowrider57, I encourage using whatever mains cable makes your preamp sound best and then just try to relieve any hanging weight with some kind of support, even a pull-tie noose with the cable hanging, creating a service loop would do the trick and...

Radio Paradise -- Good Stuff Yeah mapman, that is really the best radio ever was, wouldn't you say? I'm of the years that I recall those days all too well, and would miss that airplay if not for Rp. It's enjoyable to have someone else Dj for ya too. Keeps it interesting.
Vibration Control for Lightweight Tube Components With a preamp that light, just like a small phonostage, or DAC, what-have-you, you need to be aware of not "loading" the preamp chassis with a heavy mains cable dangling from it, causing an energy path from whatever the cable is also in contact wi...
Vibration Control for Lightweight Tube Components Besides isolation from room vibration from below, you must effectively wick the energy out of the component cabinet as well. adg101 had the cheap isolation aspect nailed! IKEA bamboo chopping/cutting boards are a no-brainer! Bamboo composite board...
Radio Paradise -- Good Stuff I've been a Radio Paradise fan for years now. Had a dear friend from our local audio club who turn me on, and tune me out to the weak local broadcast stuff in favor of a great commercial free stream. We had had one of about four or five commercial...

Tube Rolling questions from a recent addict: As noromance commented, and I will add to, tubes, like cabling, IMHO should not be looked at as a "fix", but rather, a fine tune, tone control (especially with signal tubes). They are the finishing touch to a well composed kit.
Tube Rolling questions from a recent addict: Another great site to read about tube-ology and another authority on good tube matching to specific electronics. Vintage Tube Services Andy Bowman is still one of the best. http://vintagetubeservices.comLaissez les bons temps rouler!
Class "A" phono cartridge discussion. Would it not make most posts moot on these threads if we held ourselves to the same standards we hold audio reviewers? Just saying...Phono cartridge performance is so subject to so many things, tonearm matching, set-up alignment, and even system s...
Phono pre "Break-In" process? Necessary? Surge, you comment seems dismissive to the point of displaying a simple lack of high-end experience. In that, I just got back from a friend’s house where he had a very nice set up including Pass Labs amplification, Wilson Sasha 2’s, a VPI classic ...
Thoughts on the First Watt SIT Amps cobra213 "I’m going to make it a point to hear the SIT-1 monoblocks with a DHT preamp in front of it. I have listened to DHT preamps and have heard the SIT-2, but have not heard the two sequenced together. I’ll give Srajan benefit of doubt, and I ...
What is the best dielectric? I believe Chris Sommovigo of Black Cat Cable/Stereovox/Stereolab and Kimber designs etc. used a braided foamed aeron material as well in his later Lectraline series, again lots of air for the dielectric present! |
