Thought on OTL tube amps
realdeal, you are truly misinformed. I have run three different levels of the glorious Atma-Sphere OTL amplifiers S-30, M-60, MA-1 Silver on numerous loudspeakers with no issue whatsoever! All were played without autoformers, all were played throu...
Audiophile pets and their names...
asvjerry, it sounds as though you have two good companions and vigilant guardians of the audio crypt rolled in one.
Audiophile pets and their names...
czarivey, yes, thanks. They certainly did live a good long life. Wow, that it quite a story to tell about your little buddy. Thank goodness he made it though to live a happy life! Yogiboy, when a good bluegrass tune is on, Nemo is not the only one...
Audiophile pets and their names...
Just adopted two kittens, 2 1/2 months old Bankxie and Bibeane. The little ones are absolutely mesmerized by stereo imaging, my... have they got some maturing to do as listeners. Could not stand a house without feline roommates. We had lost Wheels...
I was thinking the other day about all the audio stores that were around when I was a kid
I grew up on the west side of Detroit and as a teenager started migrating to the Royal Oak Music Theatre for concerts and because the local area was funky, artsy, and good cheap fun, and had about seven record stores, all within walking distance ...
If you won the power ball tomorrow night would you
One one and three...  Have a couple SAT Swedish Analogue Technologies tonearms sent out immediately. Then start drafting plans for a dedicated listening environment. I would also create a charitable trust for music education and enrichment. Happy ...
What's up with the ridiculous offers?!?
I think we need to keep a sense of humor. Yeah, it's bad, a soft market perhaps. Back when I was trading here on a more frequent basis, I would mention that I was willing to except reasonable offers, but that "low ballers will here the dead silenc...
Where does your user name come from?
Silly me... years ago, just started with my real name. I also go by VinylRob elsewhere which audio club mates started calling me do to my life long predilection.
Why Audiophiles need cats .. watch short video
I have always had a house cat that joins us for our long, deep listening sessions and they are a great, quite, companions that also sometimes add a bit of useful reverb to a performance.
Lyra Kleos Repair
I can only speculate as I am neither Lyra or the honorable Mr. Carr. Analogluvr, you and I may never come to see this the same, but I don't feel anyone is being "ripped off" here. If SoundSmith or anyone else is so good, why do my ears keep pickin...

Have you read J. Carr's comments? http://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/andy-kim-needle-clinic/post?postid=702459#702459
No cartridge is good enough.
The simple fact that we continually find yet even more music as we dig deeper into the grooves don't strike me as a problem, but rather a blessing and a quest.
Are Dust Covers a MUST
Dust cover a must, completely removed while in play, also a must.
Why would anyone want 180g records ?
Yet I have some specific titles in standard120gm that have fidelity that "Audiophile" labeled 180gm vinyls do not, not even close. I think pressing and mastering are far and away more the issue at hand here than a little extra PVC.
Why would anyone want 180g records ?
Put simply, vinyl weight promises nothing but extra grams of PVC.
