I Was at a Funeral of An Audiophile... How many times has each of us uttered stupid words or thoughts only to think later "What the heck was I thinking?". It is all part of being a human being. Nobody is immune from the occasional egotistical, critical, haughty or mean thought. Fortuna...
New Mac Mini Outputs The M2 Tech Hiface provides excellent USB to SPDIF conversion. I have gone a different direction using the Toslink (headset outlet) out to a Pop Pulse that converts to SPDIF. Gives me great sounding 24/96 in the pre/pro. The Pop Pulse was about $1...
Magnepan MG 20 help and recommendations One thought would be to check out the Mye Stands for them - way better than the stock stands. Grant is great to work with. Well worth the money IMO. A friend of mine replaced a tweeter ribbon for me in a 20.1. I was not present but it came damaged...
Long Cables w/Short Speaker Cable or Vice Versa? Yes, as Kurt tank said, you will probably want to go with longer ICs and short speaker cables since you are using monos. It seems to be common knowledge that the ICs should be of identical length, same for the speaker cables.
Is my room OK for Magneplanar 3.6's I agree with Schipo
What can I do to upgrade my system? Thanks I thought that cbw723's suggestion to look at a USB to SPDIF converter was the best overall thought. The Hiface is excellent and, for only $150 I got good results from a Pop Pulse. Changing those speaker cables is also well advised.

Can't get the M2Tech Hiface Drivers to download Pettyofficer: Many thanks for your comments. They are well taken. I will take those steps.
Can't get the M2Tech Hiface Drivers to download Dweeb4 I am going to start with your suggestion to test the Hiface on another PC just to see if it will work elsewhere - an excellent idea and will keep you posted via E-Mail. Thanks for staying in touch. Pettyofficer: Thank you also for your comm...
What I learned on Audiogon This Year I have learned that whatever the majority thinks is easy will be difficult for me. Whatever tweak that made a world of difference in the other guy's system will make no difference in mine.
Can't get the M2Tech Hiface Drivers to download Thanks for that idea John - Yes, I have a PC also and will give it a try. Never thought of that. I really don't think that there is anything wrong with the Hiface itself or your work - it has always been good. I have been unable to get the drivers...
Can't get the M2Tech Hiface Drivers to download Pettyofficer: Here are the details: First, this is a modified unit from John Kenny in Ireland. The first unit from him worked perfect but that is the one that I think was fried in the thunder storm. Immediately following that storm the Mac no long...
How do I open a command console window in a Mac Well, nothing happened! Hiface still does not show up in Audio Systems Prefs or Midi set-up OR applications. Looks like the download is just not getting those drivers installed. I have the driver disc that came with the Hiface but it is the small ...
Can't get the M2Tech Hiface Drivers to download There is one other option still untried: The disc that came with the Hiface. I will find a friend that has a "slide out" CD tray on their computer and see if I can burn a copy to use in my Mac. The disc is one of those really small sized ones and ...
Can't get the M2Tech Hiface Drivers to download Pettyofficer: Thanks for the input. M2Tech is NOT showing up in the list of applications. Neither is it coming up as an option under Audio Sound options or Midi Set-up so my guess is that the drivers are simply not loading properly. I have followe... |
