Finally tried the IsoClean fuses, to me the system sounded different, and since I paid $50 better. Could these things possibly lower the noise floor? Well, certainly worth a try as a tweak.

Oh, and obviously the Super HL5 is another worthy option with a bit more bass impact, and maybe even better in a room your size.

Sounds like the consensus is you have pretty good speakers and the M40s would be you next logical upgrade but I would discuss with Harbeth or you dealer whether you room is big enough to take advantage of the additonal bass capabilities of the M40...

Not quite. But in speaking with your amp and speaker folks, you should be able to see if there are any red flags that would be obvious to them; if they are honest, then at that point you should not end up with any grave mismatch, and then it is up...
Music Servers VS Excellent Transports?
Assuming you have SOTA transport and DAC, what reason would there be to go to a computer-based storage device other than a better (?) approach to archiving, selecting, and finding music within your collection? That, by the way might be reason enou...

I agree with you, and when you do hear an good match between pre/amp/speaker it suddenly becomes obvious that something good is happening, a sense of balance from highs to lows. One advantage to well designed integrateds.

What are the dimensions of your room? The Harbeth sound is special.

I do have a tube amp (CAT JL2)that can handle low impedances, but it is expesnive and requires large transformers (the amp weighs 180 lbs!)and Atmasphere obviously uses a different approach. But nevertheless a higher impedance is always better for...

Agree on SS for these speakers. How much are you willing to spend to upgrade from the Rotel?
Impressed with Tubes
Pay close to attention to Rlawry and Atmasphere's comments, a tube amplifier must be well mated to the speakers. Certain speakers need to have SS amplification if they do not have linear impedance (one might argue these are not particularly well d...
Dampers: Small Tube Big Tube?
Precisely.
845 SET? deHavilland / Art Audio/et..al.
Thanks for the clarification.
845 SET? deHavilland / Art Audio/et..al.
I'm keeping the CAT, just interested in adding to the mix. Want to see what SET is all about, though I suppose 2A3 or 300B would be truer to the genre, but with my Merlins it is not an option. And of course OTL is on the horizon.Goldenerguy, do yo...
Dampers: Small Tube Big Tube?
I think you are right, and maybe the signals are alot biiger at that stage. Titanium pearls!

Just for the record, I understand that Mastersound is also a contender worth considering.
