Experienced audiophiles best speaker
At RMAF you will hear "a good number of the top speakers" - if not all - and if not under optimal conditions; that is a given. But life is not perfect and it does provide what is really not available in any other reasonable, exposure to many speak...
Experienced audiophiles best speaker
Pedrillo, have you ever gone to RMAF? Not the same as listening in your home and room, but you might hear 200x as many speakers there than you ever will at home or a dealer, and as good a way as any to get a broad exposure to the "best" speakers (...
Nola Viper Owners, Lend Me Your Amps
Carl always uses (only?) Audio Research at shows, no? That is a pretty good indication of what he would recommend.
Mid-priced CDPs: Old vs. new technology
I suspect real improvements over the past 5-7 years in CD playback comes from developments other than DAC chips - like power supplies, anlog output stages, internal vibration isolation and control, softeware algorithims etc. I think difference bas...
The $5000.00 Complete System Challenge
I would get the best Arcam integrated and CD-player I could afford along with the Vandersteen 2Ce. I would also look at the PSB or Paradigm speaker lines for alternatives to the VS. I agree with previous posts that at this price point I would look...
Music Reference RM9 and Preamp Experiences
Never thought I would do it, but today I put my RM9 SE up for sale, with my speakers the RM10s have plenty of power and I will continue to use it and my Atma MP3/Atma-sphere M60s with my Merlin VSMs (which I never plan on selling). In a way, I wis...

Good luck!
What are the best small not bookshelf speakers?
Based on what you are not looking for, the Gallos would seem to be a pretty good choice. Woman that don't like speakers seem to like Totem Arros....

Roger sounds alot like John Dunlavy - makers of fine products that measure well, both degreed electrical engineers, and both myth busters regarding audio vodoo and pixie dust - I don't think either view wire, capacitors, transformers, resistors as...

It too have been on the passive-active-passive joy ride, so I know what you mean about the audio nirvana path. That is why I was especially careful and attentive going back and forth with the Lightspeed and Joule LA150 Signature. Both are great pr...

Peter, is it your feeling also that the XA60s is more than enouch power for his speakers? It certainly seems that way.
Music Reference RM9 and Preamp Experiences
Well since I started this thread, I've been through alot of preamps, and my favourite so far is the Lightspeed Attenuator which replaced the Joule LA-150 Signature Edition, and I prefer it to several other passives I have tried including TVCs and ...

Yup, I would think XA100.5 or higher, but those 100s are conervatively rated, might do the trick with the Sashas, but it does seem to be one of those speakers like some Thiels and B&W were the more power the better - they need it.
Merlins VSM placement question
I will measure tonight, but very close to Cardas "formula".
