Which Power Cords: I Need Some Informed Guidance
I've also changed over to the Kaplan Cables. Here's a review I did of a few different popular power cables and my impressions of each on both my amp and source components:http://www.audiocircle.com/circles/index.php?topic=50799.0Good luck,Bob
Poor BASS with Dynavector XX2 +Sunilda + AudioNote
This may be obvious, but are you sure the cartridge alignment and especially VTA are set correctly? Generally to increase bass you want to lower the back of the arm slightly below parallel.Bob
Tables That Feature Bearing Friction
I would think that an "air drive" platter would not opnly be difficult to get started, but if it got spinning too fast would also be hard to slow down to the proper speed. The platter would have to have a wee bit of friction I would think. A push ...
Audience PowerChord, Zen Tsunami, AP Oval 10
Here's an extensive set of reviews I did a while ago, and another of my new favorite:http://www.audiocircle.com/circles/index.php?topic=50799.0http://www.audiocircle.com/circles/index.php?topic=65711.0Overall my favorite was the Kaplan Cable, whic...
recommend me good power cable , thanks
The Kaplan Cables available over at www.tweekgeek.com are making quite an impression on many people, for half the price of many of the others, or less.Enjoy,Bob
Where to best upgrade - TT, arm or phono stage?
Phono stage, no doubt. You will always be limiting yourself without a good phono stage, and there is a big differnece between a middle of the road one and a good one.Bob
Possible to Compare the DV XV-1 & Grado Statement?
Unless, of course, those are all "business" expenses
Possible to Compare the DV XV-1 & Grado Statement?
Audiofeil - you have a sickness (17 cartridges???). I think with some counselling you might be able to pare that down to 2-3 :-)Bob
HOMC vs LOMC - same model
Also wondering ... I know you definitely want a shielded cable running from the arm to the phono stage. If I insert a step up device in the middle, do I need a shielded interconnect between it and the phono stage, or just between the arm and the s...
Dynavector XX0
My mistake, it is an XX1 vs an XX1L.I would need a step up with the L version. Any opinions on whether to go with an L plus step up or the simpler path of the higher output version straight to the phono stage? Thanks,Bob
New vs. old DACs - opinions?
I've found the newer DAC's to be more resolving, but they often sound harder and less liquid. The older DAC's seemed to emphasize that liquidness but had a lack of transparency. As systems themselves have become more transparent I think we are hear...
Want to upgrade 12ax7's on Jadis OR
Went through several different 12AX7's in my phono stage (Hagerman Trumpet) recently that were loaned by a friend who has a stock. I liked the Tung Sol 12AX7's the best. Detailed, open with no grunge but still musical.I also heard RCA black plate ...
TTWeights perip ring/platter/clamp on my Raven One
Dave - if you're adding the copper platter, what are you using for a clamp? Just a standard weight without the crimp down I would guess.Paying the bills on a vacation that is coming up right now, so I may be looking into the ring myself later on t...
not short power cords but flex cords
Kaplan Cables, available at www.tweekgeek.com
Rolled some 12ax7's recently...
Update, I had some good ears over this past weekend and we played with a few different things. We did try swapping out the 5751's for the Tung Sols. The impression was that the RCA Black Blate 5751's were a bit more dynamic but ultimately too plumm...
