I'm thinking about purchasing a Luxman D-08 SACD/CD Player
Top of the line Luxman and no comments? I'd be happy to hear also..
Reference disc player...UDP 205 or Marantz?
onasandezekiel OP40 posts'Quote'Ps68....I’m so glad you have it like that, to turn your nose up at a 2500.00 player! This commoner can’t do any better, SO YES, it IS reference for me! I was actually asking for advice, not elitist posturing.More po...
Reference disc player...UDP 205 or Marantz?
Niether of the players above are reference class imo. The only times i have heard an Oppo unit i was pretty underwhelmed, just average at best, the Marantz would be my pick of the two, but far from reference digital.
How to choose a cartridge you can't hear on your system?
This is the question that Davey f posed on wbf recently, he added a poll with expected results I guess. Most of us take a punt every now and then unless we want to stay with the same maker. Hearing is next to impossible, which is not so good for t...
koetsu
How does Koetsu Black (wood body) compare with Koetsu Black Goldline (Aluminium body)? Same price in the UK, different spec, but it would interest me to know their characters if anyone can help?Rgds,Paul
DIY power cord / cords - really good
I agree with Ralph above regarding using solid core, it was intended for use in walls etc. Recently we were asked to re terminate some solid core pc's from a known UK supplier that makes his own and were pretty appalled at the termination quality,...
Current speaker threads are boring
Maybe market saturation combined with lowering disposable income has created more 'apathy' in general?
Arche headshell with London Reference cartridge - fantastic results
Howardalex, thank you for your post, very good to know that the combination of LR and Arche works well.. I am intending to have a London Ref soon, and will mount it on SME Series V, but i will first try it on my current SAEC WE506 with either ULS ...
Pani ... New ART-9 up and running ...
After careful examination with a usb microscope it turned out that the stylus on my art9 was set at a quite an angle pointing forward, meaning i had to raise the arm to its max plus make some other adjustments to get a 90 degree stylus angle.. The...
Any Allnic users out there? Hum problem.
I am using H3000 but again, not HA. It sounds like a ground loop issue between the two stages but Mr Park I am sure would have allowed for this in the circuitry, perhaps using a diode. H3000 is a really wonderful amplifier, and very quiet..Rgds,Paul
Martin Logan Tweaks / Upgrades
Shawn,Rebuilding crossovers can be done, at cost. Getting a schematic from ML is unlikely so you'd have to figure it out from your existing networks, and replicate that, but you would need to rebuild the whole thing. My ML Spire project is on the ...
Martin Logan Tweaks / Upgrades
Shawn,In honesty there will be little to gain by swapping the cables to your Vista’s. They draw such low current.
Best tonearm for London Reference Cartridge
I'm close to settled on using the London with an SME V 9" arm now, final dimensional checks to to be made to ensure it will be able to fit ok, but I can't yet see any issues. Kuzma just announced a 9" 4 point also which could be a great choice to ...
Power conditioner vs line isolator
Likewise; very few do anything really worthwhile in my opinion, hence building my own. 3 friends have now ordered one each such is the difference..Best regards, Paul.
Who listens primarily to Redbook CD?
LP and CD in equal measures, CD being mostly 16/44. I had been getting more and more heavily biased towards LP as far superior SQ until the power supply I had been working on was tested for the first time. This revealed that digital suffers quite ...
