Inner tracks vs outer tracks
The Stevenson alignment was designed to minimize inner groove distortion.  Many/most classical recordings reach a crescendo at the end where this may be more important.
Tubes, to damp or not to damp?
George, that Silicone-Mouth-Gag looks pretty kinky!Years ago I bought silicone O-rings at a marine supply store.  They are red and look just like those in your link. They worked fine on driver tubes in a amp (open air, not enclosed) as well as tube...

frog, your attachment of the Brubeck interview quote vindicated me! ;^)Brubeck: Well, I love the Brandenburg Concertos, and I think they're so rhythmic, and so full of life, and so related in a way to jazz. Or, jazz is related to it Now for Spike ...

rok, I suspect we all appreciate that labels can be difficult.I readily admit that the Swingle Singers are not jazz, not in the strict sense.  Is "jazzy" a better term?  So far as my limited musical knowledge takes me, they are singing Bach's scor...

o10, in the past you and I have aligned pretty well regarding specific music or performances, I don't know why we have such a disconnect here?1.  I picked up on your three offerings of "Speak Low" to relate my opinion that when lyrics accompany a ...
trying to reach Art Audio..... are they gone ?
I ended up with an Art Audio PX-25 some years ago when I had HE speakers.  I'd auditioned a few other low powered and SET tube amps (can't remember them all now) and the PX-25 was clearly the most musically pleasing.

All MM, MI, and MC require a phono stage.  Which type depends on the output of the cartridge.  There can be other considerations, such as loading, but gain is the main one.

mary_jo I appreciated your tribute to Morricone.  For my taste he was one of the best.I'll draw attention to my favorite among his works, "The Mission".  It was not only well suited to the film and music I never tire of, but, dare I admit, as an a...

Thanks frog.  So now my question: which came first, Weill's music or Nash's lyrics?  I could see the music influencing the character of the lyric if Weill composed that first.  Similarly if he was inspired by Nash's lyrics first then they in tern ...

O10, no, not trite at all.  See if this helps my point.Had I never heard words to "Speak Low" then my feeling for any rendition would be based on the musical merits, other than what the title might suggest.  But once I've heard the lyrics to any s...
