schubert, I know this is a jazz site, but since you mentioned Bjorling, I'll offer this.Admittedly I'm not much of an opera fan, although I enjoy several overtures.  But years ago I heard a RCA CD, "Opera Goes To The Movies".  That was a budget ef...

For those who missed it in the link in frog's post on Rich giving a "pep talk" to his band after a performance.  This comes from Jerry Seinfeld, not someone I'd expect to know about or talk about Buddy Rich.  Found the link on the side of the Rich...
Technics SP 10 mc II. Worth looking at?
FYI, the Fidelis Analog chip set is a replacement in the SP-15 as well as the SP-10 Mk 3.Also chakster, the simple home use plinth link in your 8/14 post does not open.
Three cheers for Keith Herron
A friend has Herron electronics in a very good sounding system.I had the chance to chat with Keith a couple of times at CES/THE Show. He is very knowledgable about both electronics and music, plus seemed to be an all-round nice guy.

Another thanks frog.  That merits two comments.Regardless of which you feel is the best jazz vocalist, I've never seen a video of Sinatra having as much fun performing as Torme on "Love For Sale".Also, and I hope I haven't related this joke here p...
Audio Technica AT 666 vacuum disc
@best-groove round elastic for men's socks, what is that and where did you find it?Also, for future reference, I remember reading that air leaks can happen with the valve.  If you're not able to correct that then a good bike repair shop may help.

Thanks frog.  An audio pal and good buddy used to argue that Torme was one of the best jazz male vocalists ever, better than Sinatra.  That usually resulted in arguments. ;^)And yes, liked Woods too.

Thanks acman, that fits. ;^)
Dunlavy resurrection?
@dronepunk, thanks for that.  Hardly any difference in weight then. However I think the simpler box design for the DAL was possibly a compromise in performance, even if it was less expensive to build.

Was OP a bebop artist?I return for this one question based upon respect for the knowledge of many of the aficionados here.  This link of Oscar Peterson has recently had a bit of exposure.  In it Beato makes a couple of references for Peterson bein...
How do you know what your weakest link is?
j-wall,The first step may be to ensure your existing system is operating at its best. How many hours on your cartridge? Are you certain the stylus tip and all connections (including headshell to cartridge pins) are clean?Have you verified all eleme...
Tonearms for reference 78 RPM system Technics SP-10R
Hi mke,It seems the first thing here is to put the horse before the cart (so to speak).I understand why you may want a collection of stylus sizes to fit various 78 records.  So the question is: will you do that with multiple cartridges or with one...

@rooze, "The last post about spending $30k to realize a $12k value was such horse****"You do know that Leno is comedian, right?
An Objective Review of the Tekton Double Impact Speakers
Phil, I've never heard any Tekton speaker or a Klipsch Forte, but both are on my short list for a rec room system for music and movies (2 ch only, not HT).  So this is all interesting. Now lots of discussion here about placement and room setup.  Di...
Tubes for Magnepan’s.
william, anyone who says that Maggies and tubes are not a great combination probably never heard an Audio Research demo with them.  But that's not to say just any tubes will do.Even with your stated music I agree with those saying that something w...
