tomthielDo you know if Rob can service the Thiel 02s?Wondering what I'll do if, at their age, they start having issues.Thanks.

Wow, thank you Tom!It’s so nice to be able to read a previously hidden history of a pair of speakers that have meant so much to me for decades. And now, given Jim’s disdain, I feel even more guilty liking them so much ;-)It just goes to show you t...
Degritter brand ultrasonic record cleaner
bdp24,Yeah the price hike does push it upward to a smaller audience.  I got in when I could buy it at just over $2,300 so I'm happy enough about that.Still, the price demanded for the KLAudio and Audio Desk does put the Degritter in better perspec...
Degritter brand ultrasonic record cleaner
I got in on the Degritter and ordered one back in the summer. Given the start-up and crowd-fund nature of the company I expected delays and of course there have been a number of them. All well explained by the company though.I should be getting mi...

tomthiel,Ha...yeah I feel a bit strange lauding them so highly.  They just happen to hit my buttons. As I said, at least my pair has an upper mid/lower treble peak of some sort that unfortunately can make them shouty or piercing with the wrong mat...

Damn!I've been switching up my speakers with some others I own, like the Waveform Mach MC monitors and then my old Thiel 02s.Sometimes I think I shouldn't do this, because every time I throw on the Thiel 02s I'm bewitched.  I think "THAT'S what I'...
What are the top 3 dream speakers you wanna buy next regardless of price?
Joseph Audio Pearl3MBL 101s Maybe Devore reference system.
Harbelth HL5plus
IMO, never bank on a speaker "breaking in" if you think you heard an aspect you didn't like. That said...I owned the Harbeth SuperHL5+ for a while, and have heard it numerous times elsewhere, e.g. stores.Given it's dimensions and rated specs, I did...

glupsonDoes anyone else see this thread as religious? One side is sure, the other one is sure it is not. Well, bit of a broad brush there glupson. At least some of us (e.g. myself) do not take a stance of ’religious’ character in terms of dogmatic...
I give up on new vinyl
It's always a crap shoot to some degree, but I've generally found new vinyl sounds excellent.  If I wasn't get a high ratio of good condition/sound to stinkers, I certainly wouldn't be amassing the amount of vinyl I currently do.I just cracked ope...
Whats the deal?
I’m confused by the OP.Who is choosing looks over sound in their speakers? This is an audiophile site; if anything, it’s a place where people are more dedicated to sound than looks. That said...it’s not like sound and beauty are mutually exclusive. ...
The Science of Cables
Douglas,Congrats.  Never heard of anyone passing a blind test for AC cables.  Only failures. But, the ABX was testing one leg of cabling, not the entire set. I'm not quite grokking that.  Could you be a bit more detailed about how you blind/ABX-tes...
The Science of Cables
douglas,That's terrific!  Nice to see.I'll take a look at the articles further when I have time.Where you able to discern differences between AC cables using blind testing/ABX?   If so, that would be the first example I've ever seen before.
The Science of Cables
Hi Douglas,I hope you notice that I haven’t cast aspersions at your new "Schroeder Method." Frankly I haven’t investigated it to a degree I’d feel comfortable having offering any opinion. So I was speaking to the general idea of the types of claim...
The Science of Cables
@douglas_schroederI read your whole post, which seems an extension of your first paragraph:Prof, no, I am saying there appears to be no measurable, objective basis for cultivation of an analogue rig. I see that the same largely subjective assessme...
