Contemplating DEVORE SPEAKERS (and others)....LONG audition report of many speakers
Amazing that it's been over 5 years since I started this thread pondering my decision. Funny enough I still have a HiFiShark alert set up for when the Devore O/96 come up for sale, which I really should turn off since that ship sailed quite a whi...

Thanks for the info @tomthiel    @thieliste  I saw the photo.  Ok, so it's only the surround that is painted black.  I'd hoped it was the driver that was black.  Not sure it's useful to me then, but I'm thankful you posted the photo.  cheers.

Wait, what?  New black coax drivers?  What is that about?  How did they become black? Just a few days ago I was thinking about my 2.7s that I’d  like to try them with the grills off, but I would find the shiny  drivers too distracting.  I lite...
Joseph Audio Perspective next steps
@hilde45  My opinion, or perhaps hunch, cuts a middle ground between what your dealer is saying and others here.   I can see his point, and that of folks like sksos. My room is 13' x 15' with a wide opening to the hallway.  The Perspectives cert...

@donquichotte    Sorry for the delayed reply. To your questions: 1. Ultimately it depends on what you want out of your upgrade.  What might you be missing that could be better?  For me Harbeth are probably the most like the Spendor classic ...

@donquichotte  Sorry I haven't replied yet!   I'll get back to your question very soon.  Promise!
Hales Transcendence 5 speakers endgame?
Still loving my Hales T1 and Transcendence center channel in my home theater set up.  Though I have Joseph Audio Perspective speakers for 2 channel listening, I often listen to music on my Hales-based HT set up - e.g. youtube performances or ap...

update: Spendor SP 1/2 speakers.   I finally got a little listening session in with some Classic Spendor SP 1/2 speakers! I’ve wanted to hear those for years, but finding them to audition is like hunting the Sasquatch. Turns out the local plac...
the big one: how do you choose speakers? By what features, data?
The Sound. (To my ears). And aesthetics. I have certain things that I value in sound reproduction, hence in the ways speakers can sound. So i’m not chasing numbers (measurements) per se (not that those are inconsequential of course), but rat...
Boressen speakers
@arafiq    The only thing I wish the JAs had more of is a bit more tonal density. Other than that, I really love everything else about them. More than likely I will stick with Joseph Audio. As you might know that has been my only knock on the...
Turntable Isolation Journey
@mulveling   Also forgot to mention, I’ve had these 1" thick granite slabs since forever. They ring like crazy. Tried them under my speakers (with Herbie’s Giant Fat Dots under each corner) and they just sounded BAD. Really bad. I realize this...
Turntable Isolation Journey
@mulveling  Excellent detailed post and a terrific contribution to the forum!  Thanks! I also had a long thread on my trying out various solutions in building an isolation base for my Transrotor Fat Bob S turntable.   It's amazing how similar ou...
The New Amati G5 or Joseph Audio Pearl Graphene
Good contribution! I've heard the Perspectives a few times on giant SimAudio monoblocks, so plenty of power.  And I did notice a bit more solidity to the sound.   Less body in terms of richness and roundness vs tubes, but more focused and a se...
Is it possible for a high end manufacturer to overprice their goods?
I haven't noticed any posts that look like someone is on a crusade (might have missed it). But it makes sense for audiophiles to discuss the nature of how audio gear is being priced these days.  I mean...that's obvious, right?
Is it possible for a high end manufacturer to overprice their goods?
Answer:  Of course. I've often wondered how satisfying it actually would be for those manufacturers engaging in this race-to-the-moon-who-can-price-higher model. Where you sell just a few a year.  Is that really satisfying? Do you really want t...
