How important is bass to you?
agree...I used to love the midrange and was many years listenning to single full range drivers/no crossover designs, but one day I just had to have the full spectrum sound....especially for the music i did enjoy the most like big orchestra, opera.

First Watt is good choice....other unit would be older ML units or Bryston in still analog and affordable category....

I would go for the best and the most power SS amplifier for the woofers.....the trick is the right crossover.If you go with some of the pro units you will not get that happy...if you want good one it costs quite a bit....and you may have to end up... 
Help:Anti skate on Tonearm with no anti-skate
also check all the wires bellow and possibly inside the tonearm...the bearing must also be in perfect centre from each side....how good is the rubber "dumper" between the weight and arm tube? 
Experiences buying used cartridges
I am fan of old 50ties and 60ties Ortofon SPU cartridges...so I have no other choice but used....and yes most of the time they need to be re-tipped.

get another pair....I did that 4 times in my audio life....same footprint(almost) as the C7 anyway...easier to hide as "space heaters"....
